Role of resistive index in renal colic
Urological Research, 2007We studied the role of duplex Doppler ultrasonography in the diagnosis of renal obstruction caused by ureteral calculi. Using duplex Doppler sonography, we evaluated the intrarenal hemodynamics of 27 patients who presented to the emergency department with renal colic.

Serotonin and superior mesenteric artery resistance index
Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 2006Serotonin is a vasoactive neuroendocrine substance and serotonergic drugs are promising agents for the treatment of functional gastrointestinal disorders. The effect of serotonin on superior mesenteric blood flow in humans is unknown. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of exogenous serotonin on superior mesenteric artery blood flow, as ...

European Radiology, 2002
The aim of this study was to evaluate Doppler renal resistance index (RI) and RI ratio (RIR) in differentiating between obstructive and nonobstructive hydronephrosis in children and adolescents. The RI and RIR were measured in 32 healthy examinees (control group) and 29 patients with unilateral hydronephrosis.

Value of Intraoperative Resistive Index in Kidney Transplant
Transplantation Proceedings, 2005The value of the resistive index (RI) obtained by echo color doppler evaluation of the transplanted kidney is still not well established. Many authors consider the RI to be nonspecific sign of rejection, acute tubular necrosis, or urinary tract obstruction, but its specificity remains low.
