A Submicrosecond-Response Ultrafast Microwave Ranging Method Based on Optically Generated Frequency-Modulated Pulses

open access: yesSensors
An ultrafast microwave ranging method based on optically generated frequency-modulated microwave pulses is proposed in this study. The theoretical analysis demonstrated that nanosecond-scale linear frequency modulation microwave pulse can be obtained by ...

3-D microstructure measurement method by using SEM

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
The three-dimensional measurement method by SEM has already been proposed by using the principle of shadow moiré. In this method, there are some troubles in order to perform a high-resolution analysis. A new method based on the principle of projection

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Dimensional accuracy and surface characteristics of complete-arch cast manufactured by six 3D printers

open access: yesHeliyon
Objective: This in vitro study aimed to quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate and compare the horizontal and vertical accuracies of complete-arch casts produced by six 3D printers with different printing principles and resolutions using a low ...

Diabetes‐induced vascular calcification is associated with low pyrophosphate and its oral supplementation prevents calcification in diabetic mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Induction of diabetes in three different mouse strains uniformly resulted in an increase in TNAP activity and a reduction in pyrophosphate (PPi) in the circulation. Inhibition of TNAP restored plasma PPi. Diabetes‐induced calcification in the media layer of the aorta was detected only in the Abcc6−/− strain, which is predisposed to ectopic ...

On the efficiency of quantum lithography

open access: yes, 2011
Quantum lithography promises, in principle, unlimited feature resolution, independent of wavelength. However, in the literature at least two different theoretical descriptions of quantum lithography exist. They differ in to which extent they predict that
