Broadening of resonance profiles
Journal of Electron Spectroscopy and Related Phenomena, 1973Abstract There are many cases in experimental physics where narrow resonances are observed under conditions in which they are broadening by an apparatus function. In the present work we give data to help in determining parameters for resonances under these circumstances.

Stark broadening of resonance transitions in B III
Physical Review A, 1996We performed line profile measurements of the 2s-2p resonance transitions in B III in order to test quantum-mechanical (close-coupling) theory. The experiment was carried out using the well-diagnosed gas-liner pinch discharge where plasma parameters are determined independently by 90\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} Thomson scattering.

Measurement Broadening in Magnetic Resonance
Journal of Applied Physics, 1959Phase-detection techniques used in recording magnetic resonances are the source of a measurement broadening. Results of a general mathematical treatment for arbitrary line shape and of machine computation for a Lorentz line shape lead to a series of curves which may be used to correct observed widths under circumstances where the Lorentz shape may be ...

Resonance broadening and van der waals broadening
EAS Publications Series, 2010Resonance broadening is important for the hydrogen lines in the spectra of F-typeand later stars. In the corresponding temper- ature regime, the extended wings of the Balmer lines are used as a stellar effective temperature indicator. We show the effect of the use of two broadending theories, Ali & Griem (1965, 1966) and Barklem et al. (2000, 2000), on

Power broadening of a diffusion resonance
Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, 1998We derive an expression in terms of cylinder functions for the shape of a nonlinear resonance in a two-level system with a rapidly decaying level. We show that when the natural linewidth is negligible, the square of the total width is the sum of squares of the power and diffusion widths.

Interference of radiatively broadened resonances
Physical Review A, 1989We show that a three-state atomic system where the upper two states have the same J and ${m}_{J}$ quantum numbers and decay radiatively to the states of a single atomic level is equivlent to the recently proposed inversionless laser system [S.E. Harris, Phys. Rev. Lett. 62, 1033 (1989)].

Comment on resonance broadening
Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 1975The conflicting results describing the relationship between line width and absorber density in resonance broadening are considered. A reexamination of some of these experiments points to a common difficulty - large optical depth. Formulas are given which approximate the widths and dependencies observed under optically thick conditions.

Calculation of Resonance Broadening
Physical Review, 1968The line-shape function is expressed in terms of three boundary functions related to the two-particle Green's function. The transverse as well as the longitudinal interaction among atoms is considered, using the photon propagator approach. The broadening of one of the radiative states through the resonance interaction with the ground state is ...

Landau broadening of plasmonic resonances in the Mie theory
Optics Letters, 2020Landau damping in the metal nanosphere is considered beyond the quasistatic approximation with the use of the exact Mie theory when an incident plane wave can excite not only the dipole mode but also higher-order modes. In resonance approximation, when one considers excitation of a single mode, the analytical formula for the Landau damping coefficient ...
