Interaction between resonant magnetic perturbation and the rotating magnetic island
Physics of Plasmas, 1994Nonlinear interaction between an external static resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) and the corresponding rotating saturated magnetic island in tokamak plasma has been numerically simulated. The influence of flow shear driven by this nonlinear interaction is considered.

Magnetic field topology modeling under resonant magnetic perturbations on EAST
Plasma Science and Technology, 2019In order to understand the mechanism by which the resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) mitigates or suppresses the edge-localized mode (ELM), the topological study of the edge magnetic field in ELM mitigation or suppression phase is a critical issue.

Edge localized modes control by resonant magnetic perturbations
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2007A number of designs for external or in-vessel coils generating Resonant Magnetic Perturbations (RMPs) for type I ELMs control in ITER are analyzed. The RMPs generated by the I-coils in the successful DIII-D ELMs control experiments are taken as a reference. The three ITER characteristic scenarios (H-mode, hybrid and steady-state) are studied.

Resonant magnetic perturbation effect on tearing mode dynamics
Nuclear Fusion, 2010The effect of a resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) on the tearing mode (TM) dynamics is experimentally studied in the EXTRAP T2R device. EXTRAP T2R is equipped with a set of sensor coils and active coils connected by a digital controller allowing a feedback control of the magnetic instabilities.

Shielding of resonant magnetic perturbations by rotation
Physics of Plasmas, 1996Magnetic perturbations that drive islands are shielded from a rotating plasma by either a torque limit or an equilibrium limit. The physics of the shielding is given in a simple slab model along with the mechanism by which the shielding currents are maintained.

Nuclear magnetic resonance microscopy of single neurons under hypotonic perturbation
American Journal of Physiology-Cell Physiology, 1996Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) characteristics of water in perfused single neurons undergoing a 20% hypotonic perturbation were examined quantitatively using NMR microscopy. The transverse relaxation times (T2) in the cytoplasm and nucleus increased by 24.0 +/- 8.5% (average +/- SE, n = 8) and 29.7 +/- 5.3% (n = 6), respectively, whereas the ...

ELM suppression by resonant magnetic perturbations at DIII-D
2009 23rd IEEE/NPSS Symposium on Fusion Engineering, 2009Edge localized mode (ELM) suppression by resonant magnetic perturbations (RMPs) is being studied at DIII-D with ITER-similar plasma shapes and edge collisionalities. Suppression at low collisionality correlates with overlap of vacuum magnetic field islands in a quantified edge layer at moderate q.
