Simple rules for optimizing asymmetries in SOA-based Mach-Zehnder wavelength converters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present an analysis of semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) based differential Mach-Zehnder wavelength converters with a specific focus on optimizing performance through intentional asymmetries in optical power splitting, SOA bias, and interferometer

Stoma‐Shell Nanoarchitecture for Enhanced Plasma Confinement Catalysis in Synthesis of Ethanol from CO2

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐energy electron impact in plasma catalysis often causes excessive dissociation of active intermediates, limiting C2+ product selectivity. To address this challenge, a bio‐inspired stoma‐shell nanoarchitecture is designed to decouple electron impact from catalytic reaction zones.

Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.

Introduction to Quantum Thermodynamics: History and Prospects

open access: yes, 2018
Quantum Thermodynamics is a continuous dialogue between two independent theories: Thermodynamics and Quantum Mechanics. Whenever the two theories addressed the same phenomena new insight has emerged.

Zwitterionic Self‐Assembled Monolayer for Simultaneous Noise Suppression and Hole Extraction in High‐Performance Near‐Infrared Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a new hole transporting material (HTM) mechanism for self‐assembled monolayers in near‐infrared organic photodetectors. The formation of zwitterions induces a strong electric field that significantly increases the work function of HTM‐coated indium tin oxide substrates. The devices exhibit low dark current and noise, along with high

A Digital Synchronous Rectification Control Strategy With Duty‐Ratio Compensation for LLC Resonant Converters

open access: yesIET Power Electronics
Synchronous rectification (SR) technique can significantly enhance the efficiency of LLC resonant converters. However, at high frequencies, SR control strategies based on drain–source voltage suffer from substantial duty ratio loss due to the influence ...

Meta‐Rod Mechanical Metamaterials With Programmable Reconfiguration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Existing mechanical metamaterials achieve programmable large deformations in planar square or cubic configurations, restricted by required complex boundary conditions. This research proposes a 1D metamaterial, Meta‐rod, with linear, bending, twisting, area, and volume deformation modes.
