We present a method of enhancing the diffraction efficiency of a hologram by placing it inside a resonant optical cavity. The diffraction efficiency improves on account of the multiple passes that the incident light undergoes inside the optical cavity.

Resonances of an elastic resonator
Applicable Analysis, 2000We study the resonances (or sattering frequenaes) associated with the syutem of elastic wave equations in an unbounded region Ω which is the union of a (bounded) cavity C, an (unbounded) exterior E and a thin channel Z conneding C with E. We show that as the channel gets narrower there are resonances of Ω which converge to the eigenvalues of the ...

Celestial Mechanics, 1987
This review considers the problem of the construction of formal solutions for resonant systems and several concepts related to resonance. In the first part we introduce the concepts of Hori's kernel and averaging (not to be confounded with the usual Krylov-Bogolyubov first-order definition of averaging).

Resonance splitting in gyrotropic ring resonators
Optics Letters, 2010We present the theoretical concept of an optical isolator based on resonance splitting in a silicon ring resonator covered with a magneto-optical polymer cladding. For this task, a perturbation method is derived for the modes in the cylindrical coordinate system. A polymer magneto-optical cladding causing a 0.01 amplitude of the off-diagonal element of

Not-so-resonant, resonant absorption
Physical Review Letters, 1987When an intense electromagnetic wave is incident obliquely on a sharply bounded overdense plasma, strong energy absorption can be accounted for by the electrons that are dragged into the vacuum and sent back into the plasma with velocities v\ensuremath{\simeq}${v}_{\mathrm{osc}}$.

Stochastic resonance in paramagnetic resonance systems
Journal of Statistical Physics, 1993Experimental evidence of the stochastic resonance phenomenon in an electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) system is reported. The amplitude and phase response of the EPR system operating in bistable conditions are measured for increasing values of the noise intensity.

Stochastic Resonance as aBona FideResonance
Physical Review Letters, 1995Stochastic resonance in a bistable potential is fully characterized as a synchronization effect of the hopping mechanism induced by the external periodic bias. Most notably, synchronization is shown to attain a maximum by increasing the forcing frequency close to the relevant switching rate, thus revealing a bona fide resonant process.

ABSTRACT This article explores a state of movement in the humanities into nonhuman entanglements. A key term, “resonance,” emerges in this movement. Predominating scholarship orients resonance as a flourishing. In this article, accounts of the destructiveness of mechanical resonance signal a telling lacuna in humanities scholarship ...

The term resonant frequency embodies both technical and grammatical errors and its use should be deplored and deprecated. The proper form is resonance frequency.

Resonances and Resonant Fields in a Fabry-Perot Resonator Illuminated by a Line Source
Applied Optics, 1972In the present paper, the field internal to an infinite-strip plane-parallel mirror resonator is evaluated in the case when the structure is illuminated by a cylindrical primary wave. The feeder where the primary wave originates constitutes a perturbation of the resonator and is assumed to scatter a cylindrical wave proportional to the field impinging ...
