Modelling the anabolic response of bone using a cell population model [PDF]
To maintain bone mass during bone remodelling, coupling is required between bone resorption and bone formation. This coordination is achieved by a network of autocrine and paracrine signalling molecules between cells of the osteoclast lineage and cells of the osteoblastic lineage.

Hypoxia promotes the epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) of renal tubular epithelial cells via the SIRT1‐FoxO1‐FoxO3‐autophagy pathway, thereby resulting in the fibrosis of renal tubular epithelial cells. Activation of SIRT1 or induction of autophagy inhibits this process, alleviating hypoxia‐induced fibrosis.

Governing equations of tissue modelling and remodelling: A unified generalised description of surface and bulk balance [PDF]
Several biological tissues undergo changes in their geometry and in their bulk material properties by modelling and remodelling processes. Modelling synthesises tissue in some regions and removes tissue in others. Remodelling overwrites old tissue material properties with newly formed, immature tissue properties.

The Synarcual of the Little Skate, Leucoraja erinacea: Novel Development Among the Vertebrates
Evolutionary variation in anteroposterior patterning of the axial skeleton is a major contributor to the evolution of the vertebrate body plan, with five canonical vertebral types in tetrapods (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral, caudal).

A continuum treatment of growth in biological tissue: The coupling of mass transport and mechanics [PDF]
Growth (and resorption) of biological tissue is formulated in the continuum setting. The treatment is macroscopic, rather than cellular or sub-cellular. Certain assumptions that are central to classical continuum mechanics are revisited, the theory is reformulated, and consequences for balance laws and constitutive relations are deduced.

The Etiology Behind a Complicated Case With Arrested Root Formation: More Questions Than Answers
This case focuses on dental deviations in a girl now 14 years of age. It is questioned in the article if an accident caused by the girl’s fall into a cactus at the age 1 year and 2 months could possibly result in local dental disorders in the permanent ...

This study explores the use of laser‐induced forward transfer in the picosecond regime to create in vitro biomodels. Focusing on hydrodynamics and rheology, it investigates jet dynamics through time‐resolved imaging, optimizing laser fluence, biological ink viscosity, and printing distance to precisely control the volume and location of bioink ...

Reproductive outcome in female wistar rats treated with nhexane, dichloromethane and aqueous ethanol extracts of Cucurbita pepo seed [PDF]
In developing countries, healthcare challenges and expensive infertility treatments has resulted in resurgent interest in medicinal plants. This study was designed to determine if Curcubita pepo seed can enhance female fertility, by assessing the reproductive outcome in female wistar rats treated with n-hexane (nHE), dichloromethane (DCM) and aqueous ...
