Contact Force Estimation of Continuum Robots without Embedded Sensors: A Review
This review surveys methods for estimating contact forces in continuum robots without embedded sensors. It explains why contact force matters, classifies force patterns, and groups existing methods into three approaches based on actuation, deformation, and environment information.

Banking Crises and the Lender of Last Resort: How crucial is the role of information? [PDF]
This article develops a model of bank runs and crises and analyses how the presence of a lender of last resort (LOLR) affects the solvency of the banking system.

Quaternionic potentials in non-relativistic quantum mechanics
We discuss the Schrodinger equation in presence of quaternionic potentials. The study is performed analytically as long as it proves possible, when not, we resort to numerical calculations.

Shape memory alloy wires exhibit thermally induced phase changes that generate actuation strain and resistance variations enabling self‐sensing. However, hysteretic electromechanical behavior complicates accurate state estimation. This paper presents an artificial in‐based self‐sensing method to reconstruct SMA actuator position in real time, achieving

Bail-Out or Work-Out? Theoretical Considerations [PDF]
In recent years, we appear to have entered an era of capital account crises. In response, a number of new crisis resolution ideas have been put forward, including the establishment of supranational institutions such as an international lender of last ...

Supported Decision‐Making Rights in Behaviour Support Policies
ABSTRACT Disability policy emphasises that people with disability have the right to exercise their will and preferences in their lives, and decision‐making support must be provided to realise this right if they request. One context in which people's will and preferences are often restricted is behaviour support.

Monetary Stability and Liquidity Crises: The Role of the Lender of Last Resort [PDF]
We study an economy where agents are subject to liquidity demand shocks, and banks arise endogenously to insure consumers against these shocks. In this environment we evaluate the desirability of a lender of last resort who can provide liquidity loans to

Quantum gravity effects in statistical mechanics with modified dispersion relation
Planck scale inspired theories which are also often accompanied with maximum energy and/or momentum scale predict deformed dispersion relations compared to ordinary special relativity and quantum mechanics.

Antibacterial Applications of Black and Violet Phosphorus‐Based Biomaterials
Black and violet phosphorus‐based biomaterials exhibit broad‐spectrum antibacterial efficacy in various infections, including bone, skin, ocular, dental, lung, and sepsis cases. Their antibacterial mechanisms include physical disruption, light‐driven effects, targeted drug delivery, and enhanced composite strategies.
