Remodeling of the postsynaptic proteome in male mice and marmosets during synapse development

open access: yesNature Communications
Postsynaptic proteins play crucial roles in synaptic function and plasticity. During brain development, alterations in synaptic number, shape, and stability occur, known as synapse maturation.

Structure of E3 ligase E6AP with a proteasome-binding site provided by substrate receptor hRpn10

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Human ubiquitin E3 ligase E6AP contains a Zn-binding AZUL domain. Here the authors identify and name RAZUL, a domain in proteasome substrate receptor hRpn10 that binds AZUL, recruiting E6AP to proteasomes, and they present the NMR structure of the RAZUL ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

TWRS privatization support project waste characterization resource dictionary [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
A single estimate of waste characteristics for each underground storage tanks at the Hanford Site is not available. The information that is available was developed for specific programmatic objectives and varies in format and level of descriptive detail,

Mapping of histone-binding sites in histone replacement-completed spermatozoa

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
While a majority of histones are replaced by protamines during spermatogenesis, a small amount is retained in mammalian spermatozoa. Here the authors develop a method to purify histones from replacement-completed sperm (HRCS), completely solubilize ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

An exact procedure for the resource-constrained weighted earliness-tardiness project scheduling problem. [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we study the resource-constrained project scheduling problem with weighted earliness-tardinesss penalty costs. Project activities are assumed to have a known deterministic due date, a unit earliness as well as a unit tardiness penalty cost ...

Identification of a gene cluster for telomestatin biosynthesis and heterologous expression using a specific promoter in a clean host

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Telomestatin, a strong telomerase inhibitor with G-quadruplex stabilizing activity, is a potential therapeutic agent for treating cancers. Difficulties in isolating telomestatin from microbial cultures and in chemical synthesis are bottlenecks impeding ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

High-resolution hindcasts for U.S. wave energy resource characterization

open access: yesInternational Marine Energy Journal, 2020
The marine and hydrokinetic (MHK) industry is at an early stage of development and has the potential to play a significant role in diversifying the U.S. energy portfolio and reducing the U.S. carbon footprint. Wave energy is the largest among all the U.S.
