Macroeconomic Aspects in Resource-Rich Countries. [PDF]

open access: yes
Natural resources represent a good opportunity for economic growth and development in many resource-rich countries. However, not all these countries have benefited from the wealth stemming from natural resources.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Structural basis for antiepileptic drugs and botulinum neurotoxin recognition of SV2A

open access: yesNature Communications
More than one percent of people have epilepsy worldwide. Levetiracetam (LEV) is a successful new-generation antiepileptic drug (AED), and its derivative, brivaracetam (BRV), shows improved efficacy.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Comparative Gene Expression Analysis of Salmonella Typhimurium DT104 in Ground Chicken Extract and Brain Heart Infusion Broth

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Salmonella enterica Typhimurium DT104 (S. Typhimurium DT104) is an important foodborne pathogen that is associated with poultry and poultry products. Currently, there is very little information on the underlying molecular mechanisms that allow DT104 to ...

The Effect of Previous Life Cycle Phase on the Growth Kinetics, Morphology, and Antibiotic Resistance of Salmonella Typhimurium DT104 in Brain Heart Infusion and Ground Chicken Extract

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Growth models are predominately used in the food industry to estimate the potential growth of selected microorganisms under environmental conditions. The growth kinetics, cellular morphology, and antibiotic resistance were studied throughout the life ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Resource-constrained project scheduling. [PDF]

open access: yes
: Resource-constrained project scheduling involves the scheduling of project activities subject to precedence and resource constraints in order to meet the objective(s) in the best possible way. The area covers a wide variety of problem types.

Nanoindentation Reveals Crosslinking Behavior of Solar Encapsulants—The Methodological Advantages over Bulk Methods

open access: yes, 2021
The power degradation and failure of photovoltaic (PV) modules can be caused by changes in the mechanical properties of the polymeric components during the module lifetime. This paper introduces instrumented nanoindentation as a method to investigate the

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.
