Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Habitat selection by Rocky Mountain Population greater Sandhill Cranes ( Antigone canadensis tabida ) during spring and autumn migration at a key stopover area

open access: yesAvian Conservation and Ecology
The San Luis Valley (SLV), Colorado is a critical stopover area for Rocky Mountain Population greater Sandhill Cranes ( Antigone canadensis tabida ). During spring and autumn, cranes use crops for foraging and water resources adjacent to foraging areas ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Seasonal resource selection of a grassland bird in a dynamic landscape: Importance of a heterogeneous landscape

open access: yesEcosphere
Habitat loss and fragmentation are a growing threat to wildlife, and a better understanding of these landscape processes is needed to mitigate their effects on species populations.

Staying Close to Home: Horizontal Movements of Satellite-Tracked Reef Manta Rays Mobula alfredi (Krefft, 1868) in the World’s Largest Manta Sanctuary

open access: yesFishes
Indonesia is home to significant populations of globally vulnerable reef manta rays (Mobula alfredi) in at least four key regions: Berau, Nusa Penida, Komodo, and Raja Ampat.

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Accounting for spatiotemporal patterns of long‐term recursion in estimating local‐scale step selection

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution
Step‐selection analysis (SSA) is ubiquitous for assessing local‐scale habitat selection by comparing relocations from telemetry data (used steps) to potential relocations given the movement of the animal (available steps).
