Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Resource use efficiency revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The notion of “eco-efficiency” can provide a solid basis for developing a conceptual understanding of rational and effective use of resources in agriculture and a set of tools to move us toward these objectives. It will not, however, be the magic bullet to solve the overuse of resources in agriculture.

METHODS EFFICIENCY USING SECONDARY ENERGY RESOURCES

open access: yesАлматы технологиялық университетінің хабаршысы, 2021
The article discusses energy-saving technologies and the efficient use of secondary energy resources at the enterprises of the oil and gas industry. Calculations show that, due to the introduction of regeneration (plate regenerator), the heat of exhaust gases, fuel gas saving, compared with no regeneration, efficiency can reach 30-40% with a ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Influence of varying nitrogen levels on crop productivity, profitability and resource-use efficiency in Bt-cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) in semi-arid region of Afghanistan

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2019
Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is one of the most important commercial crops of Afghanistan mainly grown for fiber production; however, its seeds are used as source of edible oil while cotton cake is used as animal feed.

Improving the Sustainability of Rice Cultivation in Central Thailand with Biofertilizers and Laser Land Leveling

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Rice production in the Central Plains of Thailand plays a key role in the country’s food security. However, the overuse of inputs coupled with the rising production costs are making it increasingly difficult for smallholder rice farming to remain ...
