Função pulmonar pós-colecistectomia laparoscópica e abreviado tempo anestésico-cirúrgico

open access: yesRevista do Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões
OBJETIVO: Avaliar a função pulmonar pós-colecistectomias laparoscópicas. MÉTODOS: Estudo prospectivo, onde se avaliaram espirometrias pós-operatórias de 15 pacientes submetidas à colecistectomias laparoscópicas por meio de um tempo anestésico-cirúrgico ...

Components of respiratory function tests

open access: yesAin-Shams Journal of Anaesthesiology, 2014
The respiratory system is composed of the lungs, the conducting airways, the parts of the central nervous system concerned with the control of the muscles of respiration, and the chest wall [1]. The main functions of the respiratory system are to obtain oxygen from the external environment and supply it to the cells and to remove from the body the ...

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Avaliação da função pulmonar após colecistectomias laparoscópicas e convencionais

open access: yesRevista do Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões
OBJETIVO: Avaliar a função pulmonar pós-colecistectomias laparoscópicas e subcostais abertas. MÉTODOS: Tratou-se de um ensaio randomizado, onde se avaliaram espirometrias pós-operatórias de dois grupos, cada qual com 15 pacientes.

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Respiration rate and volume measurements using wearable strain sensors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Current methods for continuous respiration monitoring such as respiratory inductive or optoelectronic plethysmography are limited to clinical or research settings; most wearable systems reported only measures respiration rate.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Is the type of chronic pulmonary infection a determinant of lung function outcomes in adult patients with cystic fibrosis?

open access: yesMonaldi Archives for Chest Disease, 2015
Background and Aim. Lung function abnormalities are the main factors responsible for the high mortality of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. It is not yet clear whether Burkholderia cepacia infection causes more pronounced loss of lung function than ...
