Citrate Supplementation Modulates Medium Viscosity and Poly-γ-Glutamic Acid Synthesis by Engineered <i>B. subtilis</i> 168. [PDF]

open access: yesEng Life Sci
ABSTRACT The industrially attractive biopolymer poly‐γ‐glutamic acid (γ‐PGA) is commonly produced by species of the genus Bacillus by co‐feeding different carbon‐ and nitrogen‐sources. Recent studies have highlighted the pivotal role of co‐metabolization of a rapidly degradable carbon source such as glycerol together with citrate for γ‐PGA production ...

CitA/CitB two-component system regulating citrate fermentation in Escherichia coli and its relation to the DcuS/DcuR system in vivo. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Bacteriol, 2012
Citrate fermentation by Escherichia coli requires the function of the citrate/succinate antiporter CitT ( citT gene) and of citrate lyase ( citCDEFXG genes).

Comparative Genome Characterization of a Petroleum-Degrading Bacillus subtilis Strain DM2. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Genomics, 2019
The complete genome sequence of Bacillus subtilis strain DM2 isolated from petroleum‐contaminated soil on the Tibetan Plateau was determined. The genome of strain DM2 consists of a circular chromosome of 4,238,631 bp for 4458 protein‐coding genes and a plasmid of 84,240 bp coding for 103 genes.

What is the scope for existing (including recently developed) diagnostic methods to detect infected cattle which are not currently detected by the existing programme?

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 1, Issue 2, September‐December 2023., 2023
Abstract This document critically reviews the range of diagnostic methods currently employed in Ireland to detect animals infected with Mycobacterium bovis, the causative agent of bovine tuberculosis (bTB), that are not currently detected by the existing eradication programme.

Different antidumping legislations within the WTO: What can we learn from China's varying market economy status?

open access: yesReview of International Economics, Volume 29, Issue 5, Page 1121-1147, November 2021., 2021
Abstract This paper examines how varying antidumping methodologies applied within the World Trade Organization differ in the extent to which they reduce targeted exports. We show that antidumping duties, on average, hit Chinese exporters harder than those of other targeted countries.

Brain‐Computer Interface for Clinical Purposes: Cognitive Assessment and Rehabilitation

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
Alongside the best‐known applications of brain‐computer interface (BCI) technology for restoring communication abilities and controlling external devices, we present the state of the art of BCI use for cognitive assessment and training purposes. We first describe some preliminary attempts to develop verbal‐motor free BCI‐based tests for evaluating ...

Targeting Vaccine Information Framing to Recipients' Education: A Randomized Trial

open access: yesHealth Economics, Volume 34, Issue 12, Page 2317-2337, December 2025.
ABSTRACT We study the effect of framing informational campaigns scientifically or emotionally on the vaccination uptake of recipients with different educational backgrounds. 7616 Swedish mothers stratified by education received a leaflet on their children's upcoming HPV vaccination opportunity. The leaflet's framing was randomized between emotional and

‘Evolutionary poker’: an agent‐based model of interactome emergence and epistasis tested against Lenski's long‐term E. coli experiments

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 602, Issue 11, Page 2511-2535, 1 June 2024.
Abstract figure legend A simple model of natural selection yields both gradual and punctuated equilibrium from the same mechanism. Abstract A simple agent‐based model is presented that produces results matching the experimental data found by Lenski's group for ≤50,000 generations of Escherichia coli bacteria under continuous selective pressure ...
