Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Simultaneously achieving high energy density and responsivity in submicron BaTiO3 film capacitors integrated on Si

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Ceramics
In the research field of energy storage dielectrics, the “responsivity” parameter, defined as the recyclable/recoverable energy density per unit electric field, has become critically important for a comprehensive evaluation of the energy storage ...

Influence of the Dielectric PMMA Layer on the Detectivity of Pentacene-Based Photodetector With Field-Effect Transistor Configuration in Visible Region

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2013
In this paper, the influence of dielectric polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) layer on the detectivity of pentacene-based photodetectors with field-effect transistor (FET) configuration were investigated in a visible region.

Design and Optimization of GeSn Waveguide Photodetectors for 2-µm Band Silicon Photonics

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Silicon photonics is emerging as a competitive platform for electronic–photonic integrated circuits (EPICs) in the 2 µm wavelength band where GeSn photodetectors (PDs) have proven to be efficient PDs. In this paper, we present a comprehensive theoretical

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Multiple Quantum Barrier Avalanche Photodiode Based on GaN/AlGaN Heterostructures for Long Wavelength Infrared Detection

open access: yesIEEE Access
A multiple quantum barrier (MQB) avalanche photodiode (APD) structure based on GaN/AlxGa $_{1{-}x}\text{N}$ material system has been proposed in this paper which is capable of detecting infrared (IR) signal up to $6.0~\mu \text{m}$ wavelength.

Self-Powered, Highly Sensitive, High Speed Photodetection Using ITO/WSe2/SnSe2 Vertical Heterojunction

open access: yes, 2018
Two dimensional transition metal di-chalcogenides (TMDCs) are promising candidates for ultra-low intensity photodetection. However, the performance of these photodetectors is usually limited by ambience induced rapid performance degradation and long ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
