A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

Multifractal Dynamic Functional Connectivity in the Resting-State Brain

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2018
Assessing the functional connectivity (FC) of the brain has proven valuable in enhancing our understanding of brain function. Recent developments in the field demonstrated that FC fluctuates even in the resting state, which has not been taken into account by the widely applied static approaches introduced earlier.

Resting state functional connectivity in the human spinal cord

open access: yeseLife, 2014
Functional magnetic resonance imaging using blood oxygenation level dependent (BOLD) contrast is well established as one of the most powerful methods for mapping human brain function. Numerous studies have measured how low-frequency BOLD signal fluctuations from the brain are correlated between voxels in a resting state, and have exploited these ...

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Sleep State Modulates Resting-State Functional Connectivity in Neonates

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2020
The spontaneous cerebral activity that gives rise to resting-state networks (RSNs) has been extensively studied in infants in recent years. However, the influence of sleep state on the presence of observable RSNs has yet to be formally investigated in ...

Exploring resting-state functional connectivity with total interdependence [PDF]

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2012
Resting-state fMRI has become a powerful tool for studying network mechanisms of normal brain functioning and its impairments by neurological and psychiatric disorders. Analytically, independent component analysis and seed-based cross correlation are the main methods for assessing the connectivity of resting-state fMRI time series.

Modulatory Interactions of Resting-State Brain Functional Connectivity

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The functional brain connectivity studies are generally based on the synchronization of the resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) signals. Functional connectivity measures usually assume a stable relationship over time; however, accumulating studies have reported time-varying properties of strength and spatial distribution of ...
