Resting metabolism of mouse papillary muscle

open access: yesPflügers Archiv - European Journal of Physiology, 2005
The aims of this study were to measure the resting metabolic rate of isolated mouse papillary muscles and to determine whether diffusive O2 supply is adequate to support the resting metabolism. Resting metabolism of left ventricular papillary muscles was measured in vitro (27 degrees C) using the myothermic technique.

Resting metabolism and heat increment of feeding in mandarin fish (Siniperca chuatsi) and Chinese snakehead (Channa argus)

open access: yesComparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A, Molecular & Integrative Physiology, 2000
Resting metabolism was measured in immature mandarin fish Siniperca chuatsi weighing 42.1-510.2 g and Chinese snakehead Channa argus weighing 41.5-510.3 g at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 degreesC.

Familial Dependence of the Resting Metabolic Rate

New England Journal of Medicine, 1986
Human obesity is known to be a familial disorder. We studied 130 nondiabetic adult southwestern American Indians (74 men and 56 women) from 54 families to determine whether the resting metabolic rate, as measured by indirect calorimetry, is a familial trait that is independent of individual differences in fat-free mass (estimated mass of metabolically ...

Resting Metabolic Rate: Measurement Reliability

Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, 1987
Resting metabolic rate (RMR) usually is measured by indirect calorimetry for a brief interval, and the results are then extrapolated to 24‐hr resting energy production. The aim of the current study was to examine the validity of this approach by measuring the within‐ and between‐day variability in RMR.

Resting metabolic rate in obesity

Postgraduate Medical Journal
Abstract The prevalence of obesity has continued to rise, and obesity and its attendant metabolic disorders are major global health threat factors. Among the current interventions for obesity, none have demonstrated sustained efficacy in achieving long-term outcomes.
