Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

A discursive approach to relationship practices in classrooms: An exploratory study

open access: yes, 2011
In today’s increasingly diverse classrooms it is well accepted that the relationship practices employed by teachers have consequences for the quality of the learning environment. Well chosen relationship practices are thought not only to help teachers to

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Towards a restorative and liveable urban environment

open access: yes, 2016
In post-disaster reconstruction process, the physical aspect, such as shelter, food, medical service, etc. always attract great attention, whereas the psychological impact, which is of great significance as well, is among the lower hierarchy (Pynes and ...

Reconsidering restorative environments for older adults:How the social context shapes restorative experiences [PDF]

open access: yes
In this rapidly ageing world, restorative experiences of older adults appear to be a relatively understudied yet critical area of research. Earlier studies showed that age-related changes in physical abilities, sensitivity to environmental stressors, and

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Restorative potential of greenspaces in noise-polluted environments (RESTORE)

open access: yes
Urban densification often entails an increase in noise burden and a reduction of green spaces. This exposes residents to more stress and impedes outdoor recreation. The RESTORE project investigated if and how far green spaces facilitate, and road traffic noise impedes restoration from stress. It followed a comprehensive research approach: i) laboratory

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have
