Archaeal diversity in deep-sea sediments estimated by means of different Terminal-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphisms (T-RFLP) protocols [PDF]
Despite the increasing recognition of the quantitative importance of Archaea in all marine systems, the protocols for a rapid estimate of Archaeal diversity patterns in deep-sea sediments have been only poorly tested yet.

Prevalence of the vanB2 gene cluster in VanB glycopeptide-resistant enterococci in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland and its association with a Tn5382-like element [PDF]
A total of 204 vanB enterococcal isolates, isolated between 1989 and 1999 from patients in 59 different hospitals in England, Wales, and Scotland and from a single hospital in the Republic of Ireland, were examined.

A Cre‐dependent lentiviral vector for neuron subtype‐specific expression of large proteins
We designed a versatile and modular lentivector comprising a Cre‐dependent switch and self‐cleaving 2A peptide and tested it for co‐expression of GFP and a 2.8 kb gene of interest (GOI) in mouse cortical parvalbumin (PV+) interneurons and midbrain dopamine (TH+) neurons.

Comparative analysis of 18S rRNA genes from Myxobolus aeglefini Auerbach, 1906 isolated from cod (Gadus morhua), Plaice (Pleuronectes platessa) and dab (Limanda limanda), using PCR-RFLP [PDF]
The myxosporean parasite Myxobolus aeglefini is a marine species, which can be found in the cartilage of mainly gadid fish species. The parasite has, however, been recorded in the flatfish plaice (Pleuronectes platessa) and dab (Limanda limanda).

Symbiotic and genetic diversity of Rhizobium galegae isolates collected from the Galega orientalis gene center in the Caucasus [PDF]
This paper explores the relationship between the genetic diversity of rhizobia and the morphological diversity of their plant hosts. Rhizobium galegae strains were isolated from nodules of wild Galega orientalis and Galega officinalis in the Caucasus ...

Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Genetic Analysis of Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphisms in Vitis [PDF]
The parents and progeny from two crosses (Cayuga White x Aurore and NY62.136.2 x Yates) were examined for the presence of DNA restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs).

Species relationships in the genus Vasconcellea (Caricaceae) based on molecular and morphological evidence [PDF]
Validity of the taxa currently recognized in the genus Vasconcellea was analyzed by investigating morphological and molecular data from 105 specimens of this genus and six specimens of the related genus Carica. Taxon identification of these specimens was

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.
