Positive Photobiological Investigation in Reticular Erythematous Mucinosis Syndrome
Photodermatology Photoimmunology and Photomedicine, 2004Background: Reticular erythematous mucinosis (REM) syndrome is a rare disorder. Its clinical course is cyclic with remissions and exacerbations. In this disease, photosensitivity has previously been noticed but rarely demonstrated. We report three new cases with positive photobiological investigation.Case reports: Three patients (two males, one ...

Reticular erythematous mucinosis – a review
International Journal of Dermatology, 2012AbstractReticular erythematous mucinosis (REM) is a rare cutaneous condition often referred to as plaque‐like mucinosis and midline mucinosis. Although the exact etiology remains undefined, efforts to elucidate pathogenesis, disease associations, and prospective treatment modalities have been encouraging.

Reticular Erythematous Mucinosis Syndrome
The Journal of Dermatology, 1986AbstractA 71‐year‐old man visited us with asymptomatic erythematous patches of two years' duration on the sternum and right costal arch areas. Histologically there was an appreciable amount of lymphocytic infiltration around the infundibulum of the hair follicle and the dermal capillaries, but the deposition of a colloidal iron positive material was ...

Plaquelike cutaneous mucinosis: Its relationship to reticular erythematous mucinosis
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1982Nine patients with plaquelike cutaneous mucinosis, including the three described originally in 1960, are presented. The clinical manifestations of asymptomatic persistent, erythematous, infiltrated papules, either isolated or coalescing into plaques, in the midline of the back or chest are suggestive of the diagnosis.

Failure of reticular erythematous mucinosis to respond to cyclosporine
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1992We describe a 48-year-old woman who had worsening psoriasis, photosensitive reticular erythematous mucinosis (REM), and acne rosacea. The psoriasis was unresponsive to etretinate, and the REM was unsuccessfully treated with hydroxychloroquine. Cyclosporine (6 mg/kg/day) successfully cleared the psoriasis in 8 weeks but did not improve the REM and acne ...

Mycosis fungoides presenting as reticular erythematous mucinosis
International Journal of Dermatology, 2006AbstractBackground Mycosis fungoides has numerous clinical presentations. Methods We present two cases in which mycosis fungoides clinically mimicked reticular erythematous mucinosis. Results Both patients had extracutaneous involvement. One had a fatal outcome. Conclusions We suggest that full systemic evaluation be performed at the time of ...

Reticular Erythematous Mucinosis Syndrome
Archives of Dermatology, 1979Two female patients had eruptions with the morphologic and histologic features of reticular erythematous mucinosis syndrome. However, both cases had features that differed from previous descriptions. In one case the eruption developed three to four weeks after a single erythemogenic sun exposure and faded after two to three weeks.

[Reticular erythematous mucinosis (REM)].
Zeitschrift fur Hautkrankheiten, 1989All patients with reticular erythematous mucinosis (REM) published until August 1987 are analysed. REM and plaque-like form of cutaneous mucinosis are different diseases but belong to one spectrum. REM should not be called a syndrome, because a syndrome consists of several signs mostly in various organs.

REM Syndrome (Reticular Erythematous Mucinosis)
Archives of Dermatology, 1977• A 50-year-old woman had cervical lymphadenopathy, swollen and waxylooking gums, and a diamond-shaped, reticular erythematous eruption on her back of eight years' duration. Histologic examination of the gingival tissue and skin showed round-cell infiltration around the small blood vessels and in the upper part of the dermis, and an extensive ...
