Treat and extend regimen with aflibercept for chronic central retinal vein occlusions: 2 year results of the NEWTON study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Retina and Vitreous, 2019
Background To determine whether aflibercept (Eylea; Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Tarrytown, NY) could continue to extend the macular edema free interval in patients on a treat and extend (TAE) with non-ischemic central retinal vein occlusions (CRVOs)

In vivo functional and structural retina imaging using multimodal photoacoustic remote sensing microscopy and optical coherence tomography [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We have developed a multimodal photoacoustic remote sensing (PARS) microscope combined with swept source optical coherence tomography for in vivo, non-contact retinal imaging. Building on the proven strength of multiwavelength PARS imaging, the system is applied for estimating retinal oxygen saturation in the rat retina.

Phacovitrectomy vs. consecutive vitrectomy for idiopathic macular holes: short and long-term outcomes and OCT image quality assessment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Retina and Vitreous
Purpose To compare short- and long-term anatomical, functional, and refractive outcomes between combined phacovitrectomy (PVS) and consecutive vitrectomy (CVS) for idiopathic macular holes (MHs).

Evolution of demarcation line after pneumatic retinopexy—a case report

open access: yesBMC Ophthalmology, 2023
Background Demarcation line in a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RD) is a classic finding noted in chronic cases. In this case report, we describe a case of evolution of post-operative demarcation line after pneumatic retinopexy (PnR) in a subtotal ...

Towards the Next Generation of Retinal Neuroprosthesis: Visual Computation with Spikes [PDF]

open access: yespublished 2019, 2020
Neuroprosthesis, as one type of precision medicine device, is aiming for manipulating neuronal signals of the brain in a closed-loop fashion, together with receiving stimulus from the environment and controlling some part of our brain/body. In terms of vision, incoming information can be processed by the brain in millisecond interval.

Bio-inspired visual attention for silicon retinas based on spiking neural networks applied to pattern classification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Visual attention can be defined as the behavioral and cognitive process of selectively focusing on a discrete aspect of sensory cues while disregarding other perceivable information. This biological mechanism, more specifically saliency detection, has long been used in multimedia indexing to drive the analysis only on relevant parts of images or videos

Automatic optometer operates with infrared test pattern [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Refractive strength of human eye is monitored by optometer that automatically and continuously images infrared test pattern onto the retina. Condition of focus of the eye at any instant is determined from optometer settings needed to maintain focus of ...
