Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Carotenoid Biosynthesis in Fusarium

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2017
Many fungi of the genus Fusarium stand out for the complexity of their secondary metabolism. Individual species may differ in their metabolic capacities, but they usually share the ability to synthesize carotenoids, a family of hydrophobic terpenoid ...

Living Liquid Metal Composites Embedded with Electrogenic Endospores for Next‐Generation Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new class of living liquid metal composites is introduced, embedding Bacillus subtilis endospores into eutectic gallium–indium (EGaIn). The spores enhance droplet coalescence, strengthen interfacial conductivity, and provide on‐demand electrogenic functionality after germination. The composites exhibit high conductivity, self‐healing, patternability,

Calcitox-aging counterbalanced by endogenous farnesol-like sesquiterpenoids: An undervalued evolutionarily ancient key signaling pathway

open access: yesCommunicative & Integrative Biology, 2017
Cells are powerful miniature electrophoresis chambers, at least during part of their life cycle. They die at the moment the voltage gradient over their plasma membrane, and their ability to drive a self-generated electric current carried by inorganic ...

Spectrally Tuned Floating‐Gate Synapse Based on Blue‐ and Red‐Absorbing Organic Molecules for Wavelength‐Selective Neural Networks and Fashion Image Classifications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The characteristics of a vertical floating gate heterostructure transistor device that exhibits neuromorphic potentiation under visible light illumination are investigated. Due to spectrally‐tuned absorbance properties of each thin film layer and introduction of tunneling dielectric, the device enables wavelength‐selective tuning of synaptic plasticity

Trap‐Assisted Transport and Neuromorphic Plasticity in Lead‐Free 2D Perovskites PEA2SnI4

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An artificial retina built from lead‐free layered perovskite (PEA)2SnI4 converts light input into a persistent photocurrent and sums successive flashes over time. Micro/nanocrystals integrated on electrodes act as synapse‐like pixels that perform temporal integration directly in hardware. This in‐sensor preprocessing merges detection and computation on

Biosynthesis of retinoic acid by intestinal enzymes of the rat

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1967
The incubation of Β-carotene-14C with the soluble fraction of the intestinal mucosa resulted in the formation of small amounts of acidic material. The addition of NAD or NADH to the soluble fraction caused a tenfold increase in this material.
