Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment
2012Strictly speaking, ‘retinal detachment’ is a misnomer. The term denotes separation of the neuroepithelium from the pigment epithelium (rather than detachment of the retina, which consists of the neuroepithelium and the RPE, from the choroid) and therefore implies re-establishment of the space between the original layers of the embryonic optic cup.
