Retinal image quality assessment using transfer learning: Spatial images vs. wavelet detail subbands
Retinal image quality assessment (RIQA) is essential to assure that images used for medical analysis are of sufficient quality for reliable diagnosis. A modified VGG16 network with transfer learning is introduced in order to classify retinal images into ...

Prevalence of age-related macular degeneration in Nakuru, Kenya: a cross-sectional population-based study. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Diseases of the posterior segment of the eye, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), have recently been recognised as the leading or second leading cause of blindness in several African countries.

Meniscus Pixel Printing for Contact‐Lens Vision Sensing and Robotic Control
A visual‐sensing contact lens is enabled by meniscus pixel printing (MPP), which rapidly patterns a 200 µm perovskite photodetector pixel in 1 s without masks, vacuum processing, or bulky equipment. A deep‐learning‐based super‐resolution reconstructs sparse on‐lens signals into 80 × 80 high‐resolution visual information, while AI‐driven eye‐tracking ...

An XNet-CNN Diabetic Retinal Image Classification Method
In this research,a retina image automatic recognition system based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is proposed for the disadvantages of the traditional retina image processing process which is cumbersome and poor in robustness.

Retinal image quality during accommodation [PDF]
AbstractPurposeWe asked if retinal image quality is maximum during accommodation, or sub‐optimal due to accommodative error, when subjects perform an acuity task.MethodsSubjects viewed a monochromatic (552 nm), high‐contrast letter target placed at various viewing distances. Wavefront aberrations of the accommodating eye were measured near the endpoint

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...

Focused and defocused retinal images with Bessel and axicon pupil functions. [PDF]
Retinal image light distributions in a standard optical model of a diffraction-limited eye with round pupils are presented for several patterns of amplitude and phase modulation of the light admitted into the eye.
