The great simulator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Cardiac myxoma often simulates multisystem disease and initially defies diagnosis. In this paper, we present three cases of cardiac myxoma in adults.

INTRA-OCULAR NEOPLASMS: WITH A REPORT OF FIVE CASES OF NEOPLASM AND ONE OF SIMULATED NEOPLASM

open access: yes, 1911
Malignant intra-ocular growths in children are rare, but in the eye-ball as in almost no other part of the body they are encapsulated. If they are discovered early enough, therefore, and enucleation is at once performed, life may thereby be saved. If, on

Loss of STARD7 Triggers Metabolic Reprogramming and Cell Cycle Arrest in Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Breast cancer cells undergo metabolic and transcriptomic reprogramming to support aberrant cell proliferation. Their mitochondria rely on the transfer of phosphatidylcholine from the endoplasmic reticulum to their membranes by STARD7, a candidate upregulated in breast cancer, to be functional.

Light during darkness and cancer: relationships in circadian photoreception and tumor biology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The relationship between circadian phototransduction and circadian-regulated processes is poorly understood. Melatonin, commonly a circadian phase marker, may play a direct role in a myriad of physiologic processes.

SUMOylation is a Translatable Target in Hypoxic MNPs Regulating Retinal Vasculopathy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During ischemic retinopathy/retinal vasculopathy, UBC9‐mediated SUMOylation in retinal macrophages enhances their pro‐angiogenic capacity via hypoxia‐induced SUMOylation of FUS at K327/K502. This modification suppresses FUS binding to the Vegfa mRNA 3’UTR, stabilizing transcripts and facilitating VEGFA production. Targeting UBC9 inhibition can serve as

Long-term effect of external beam radiotherapy of optic disc hemangioma in a patient with von hippel-lindau disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
An 18-year-old woman with a 2-year history of hypertension and headache was diagnosed with noradrenalin-secreting bilateral adrenal pheochromocytomas with paragangliomas in the background of von Hippel-Lindau disease with family histories and a missense ...

A Tailored Artificial Biocatalyst for Bacterial Endophthalmitis Therapy via Enhanced Ferroptosis‐Like Death

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A tailored bio‐targeted catalytic strategy based on a bacteria‐specific artificial biocatalyst (MoS2/Fe@mercaptophenylboronic acid@hyaluronic acid, MFBH) is proposed for treating bacterial endophthalmitis. This strategy exhibits high‐efficiency peptidoglycan‐targeted bactericidal efficacy in vivo following a single intravitreal injection of an ...

DACH1 suppresses breast cancer as a negative regulator of CD44. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Dachshund homolog 1 (DACH1), a key cell fate determination factor, contributes to tumorigenesis, invasion, metastasis of human breast neoplasm. However, the exact molecular mechanisms for the anti-tumor roles of DACH1 in breast carcinoma are still lack ...

Chirality Regulates Stem Cell Fate and Promotes Corneal Epithelial Regeneration via Manipulating Notch Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chirality governs the limbal epithelial stem cell fate. Right‐handed chirality enhances cell proliferation and differentiation, while left‐handed chirality partially maintains cell stemness. By activating the Notch pathway, 3D right‐handed chiral hydrogel offers a drug‐free and cell‐free strategy for effective corneal regeneration.
