Retinal Neovascularization and Ocular Toxoplasmosis

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1984
Retinal neovascularization, a rare complication of ocular toxoplasmosis, is a source of vitreous hemorrhage. We examined three patients (all women, 70, 36, and 19 years old) with inactive toxoplasmosis scars associated with occlusion of a retinal arteriole or venule passing through the scar, capillary nonperfusion, and adjacent retinal ...

Retinal neovascularization associated with retinoblastoma

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2005
To report retinal neovascularization associated with retinoblastoma in a 14-month-old infant.Observational case report.Review of clinical and pathologic findings.A large frond of retinal neovascularization was present posterior to the lens in the right eye, which also contained a retinoblastoma.Retinal neovascularization is an unusual association with ...

Dominantly Inherited Peripheral Retinal Neovascularization

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1978
• Nine family members with hereditary retinal neovascularization showed wide variability in the extent of the clinical disorder and a slow progression of the disease process. Clinical and angiographic evaluation of these patients at various stages of their disease, and analysis of their histories points to a progressive peripheral retinal vascular ...

Peripheral Retinal Neovascularization in Sarcoidosis

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1975
Three black patients with peripheral retinal sea fan neovascularization were found to have sarcoidosis. The periphlebitic process may be the cause of stasis, hypoxia, and a secondary vasoproliferative stimulus. We noted the peculiar finding of a vessel passing through the neovascular tissue into the peripheral retina.

Occlusive Retinal Arteriolitis with Neovascularization

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1976
A 34-year-old white woman who had used oral contraceptives for six years showed an occlusive bilateral retinal arteriolitis that resulted in a branch arteriolar occlusion in the right eye and retinal neovascularization. Three years later, we observed active arteriolitis in the left eye with successive occlusion of several branch arterioles. The disease

Retinal and choroidal neovascularization

Journal of Cellular Physiology, 2000
The unique vascular supply of the retina, the ability to visualize the vasculature in vivo, and the ability to selectively express genes in the retina make the retina an ideal model system to study molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis. In addition, this area of investigation has great clinical significance, because retinal and choroidal ...

RETINAL NEOVASCULARIZATION ASSOCIATED WITH A RETINAL ARTERIAL MACROANEURYSM

RETINAL Cases & Brief Reports, 2009
This case report describes an uncommon presence of a retinal arterial macroaneurysm complicated by retinal neovascularization. This is a case history of a 49-year-old woman presenting with preretinal, intraretinal, and subretinal hemorrhage with an adjacent retinal arterial macroaneurysm complicated by the development of retinal neovascularization. The ...

Peripheral Retinal Neovascularization in Rheumatic Fever

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1979
During a two-year period, a 15-year-old boy had three major manifestations of rheumatic fever, ie, chorea, rash, and carditis. Following the acute carditis, peripheral retinal neovascularization appeared in the left eye. Associated transient hemiparesis suggests that emboli may account for the retinal vascular occlusion.

Somatostatin Analogs Inhibit Neonatal Retinal Neovascularization

Experimental Eye Research, 2002
The goal of this study was to determine the effect of two somatostatin analogs, Woc4D and octreotide, on oxygen induced retinopathy in the mouse. Oxygen induced retinopathy was produced in C57BL6 mice. Octreotide and Woc4D were administered from post-natal day 12-16.

Vascular Casts of Experimental Retinal Neovascularization

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1981
Autotransplantation of skin fibroblasts into the vitreous cavity of the rabbit eye resulted in the formation of fibrous strands that rapidly vascularized. To study this neovascularization, we injected methylmethacrylate monomer via the common carotid artery and made plastic casts between three days and three months after transplantation. Budding of new
