PHOTOGRAPHY OF THE NERVE FIBER LAYER IN RETINAL DISTURBANCES
Acta Ophthalmologica, 1977The diagnostic value of nerve fiber layer photography is assessed. The series comprised 39 patients with various neuro‐ophthalmological diseases. Photography of the nerve fibers in the retina is time consuming and requires skill on the part of the photographer.

Birefringence of the primate retinal nerve fiber layer
Experimental Eye Research, 2005The purpose of this study was to measure the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness, phase retardation (PR), and depth-resolved birefringence (Deltan) of the normal primate eye using Enhanced Polarization-Sensitivity Optical Coherence Tomography (EPS-OCT). Both eyes of two rhesus monkeys were imaged with EPS-OCT.

Retinal nerve fiber layer in multiple sclerosis
Acta Ophthalmologica, 1990Abstract. To evaluate the usefulness of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) appearance in estimation of optic nerve damage in MS, we examined 20 patients with definite MS and 20 normal control patients. Photographs of the RNFL in 80 eyes were classified as normal or abnormal by two examiners working independently.

Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness in Various Retinal Diseases
Optometry and Vision Science, 2018Supplemental digital content is available in the text. SIGNIFICANCE Peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness measurements may be influenced by the range and severity of lesions that are observed distinctively in each ...

Preservation of Nerve Fiber Layer by Retinal Vessels in Glaucoma
Ophthalmology, 1992The authors evaluated the correlation between various parameters and the local preservation of the retinal nerve fiber layer in 156 glaucomatous eyes. A vessel-associated preservation of the nerve fiber layer was observed in 45 of the 156 glaucomatous eyes.

Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness in Children With ADHD
Journal of Attention Disorders, 2016Objectives: The current study aims to compare retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness, macular thickness, and macular volume between children with ADHD and a control group. Method: The study group included children with ADHD and the control group consisted of age- and gender-matched participants without any psychiatric disorder. In all participants,

High-Resolution Photography of the Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1983Abnormalities in the appearance of the retinal nerve fiber layer can indicate the presence of optic nerve atrophy, but a major problem has been the difficulty of visualizing the nerve fiber layer in some individuals. By selectively illuminating the white nerve fiber layer in comparison with the red retinal pigment epithelium and choroidal background ...

Optic nerve and retinal nerve fiber layer analyzers in glaucoma
Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2002There is mounting evidence that retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) loss precedes detectable visual field loss in early glaucomatous optic neuropathy. However, examination and photography of the RNFL is a difficult technique in many patients, particularly older individuals, and eyes with small pupils and media opacities.

Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness in Parkinson Disease
Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology, 2013Dopaminergic neuronal cells have been identified in the inner nuclear and inner plexiform layers of the human retina. The dopaminergic content of the retina is reduced in patients with idiopathic Parkinson disease (PD). These observations led us to study the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in patients with PD without visual impairment ...
