Repair of Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment Following Globe Perforation by Retrobulbar Anesthesia
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 2020Globe perforation following retrobulbar or peribulbar anesthetic injection is a rare but dreaded complication that often results in suboptimal visual outcomes. This video describes a 72-year-old woman who sustained a globe perforation during retrobulbar block in the setting of cataract extraction and later developed a retinal detachment. The retina was

SILICONE OIL–INDUCED CORNEAL PERFORATION FOLLOWING COMPLEX RETINAL DETACHMENT
RETINAL Cases & Brief Reports, 2009To report a case of silicone oil-induced corneal perforation following complex retinal detachment surgery.Case report. Two months following a second retinal detachment repair, the patient presented to eye casualty with a corneal perforation secondary to silicone oil keratopathy. The pathophysiology of silicone oil-related perforation is not clearly ...

Inadvertent Scleral Perforation in Eye Muscle versus Retinal Detachment Buckle Surgery
Strabismus, 2006Inadvertent scleral perforation is a recognized complication of eye muscle and retinal detachment buckle surgery. If these operations are performed by the same surgeon, it is unknown which of these procedures has a higher risk of scleral perforation. In the period from 1999 until 2004, 427 eyes of 317 patients were operated using eye muscle surgery and ...

In 1977-1987 the authors operated, using the cryosurgical method post-traumatic retinal detachment in 69 patients. Retinal detachment developed in 37 patients after simple perforation of the eye by a foreign intraocular body. In all patients the perforation penetrated as far as the vitreous space.

[Microsurgery of retinal detachment after perforating injury].
Journal francais d'ophtalmologie, 1985Twenty consecutive retinal detachments (R.D.) after penetrating ocular injury were operated on with vitreoretinal microsurgery. The follow-up after surgery varies from 6 months to 30 months. Retinal reattachment was achieved in 15 of the 20 eyes (75%).

[Use of human fibrin glue for perforated trophic retinal ulcer].
Der Ophthalmologe : Zeitschrift der Deutschen Ophthalmologischen Gesellschaft, 2015A patient with a sterile trophic corneal perforation of 2 mm after cataract surgery underwent perforation closure with human fibrin glue. Whitening of the fibrin glue indicated a stable perforation closure 10 min after application. Perforation closure was successfully performed using human fibrin glue with complete epithelialization 2 weeks after ...
