Diffuse Retinal Pigment Epitheliopathy
Ophthalmologica, 198219 patients showing the features of diffuse retinal pigment epitheliopathy, as described by Zweng and Little, were studied. Diffuse retinal pigment epitheliopathy resembles both pigment epithelial detachment and central nervous choriopathy, but can be differentiated by the following characteristic features: widespread distribution of small pigment ...

Acute Retinal Pigment Epitheliitis
Ophthalmology, 1987Acute retinal pigment epitheliitis is an infrequently described macular disorder of unknown cause that affects healthy young adults. Acute symptoms include either reduced visual acuity or central scotoma. Ophthalmoscopy discloses discrete pigment clumps with surrounding hypopigmented halos in the center of the macula.

Retinal Pigment Epithelial Tears
Ophthalmology, 1983Retinal pigment epithelial tears have been recognized recently as a complication of retinal pigment epithelial detachments. They are characterized by sudden separation of detached from attached pigment epithelium at the margin of the detachment. Retraction of the overlying pigment epithelium occurs and exposes Bruch's membrane and choroid. Most pigment

Acute Retinal Pigment Epitheliitis
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1995We examined a patient with acute retinal pigment epitheliitis before the development of the characteristic pigmentary retinopathy.Three days after onset of blurred vision in her left eye, a 25-year-old woman had a visual acuity of L.E.: 20/40 -2. There were uniform outer retinal golden-colored vacuoles in the area of subsequent foveal pigmentary ...

Pigmentation and Retinal Breaks
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1975Of 260 patients with primary, nontraumatic, rhegmatogenous retinal separation analyzed for the presence of retinal or subretinal pigmentation associated with the retinal breaks, some 48.5% of all patients had significant pigmentary changes, especially occurring with lattice degeneration and nonlattice horseshoe tears.

Retinal Pigment Epithelial Hamartoma
Ophthalmology, 1983Retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) hamartomas are uncommon tumefactions characterized by proliferation of RPE and glial cells and blood vessels involving the RPE, retina, and adjacent vitreous. 1-5 Although these lesions have little, if any, growth potential they may appear similar to various malignancies, which has led to unnecessary enucleation of the ...

Retinal Pigment Epithelial Detachment
Survey of Ophthalmology, 2007Detachment of the retinal pigment epithelium is a prominent feature of many chorio-retinal disease processes, the most prevalent of which is age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Detachment of the retinal pigment epithelium may or may not be associated with choroidal neovascularization and may be caused by different types of pathogenesis, each ...

Retinitis Pigmentosa Without Pigment
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1976Sixty-eight consecutive patients with retinitis pigmentosa were studied to determine the frequency of the nonpigmented form of the disease. There was an overall incidence of 22%. Fifty percent of all cases had no characteristic pigmentation, if the duration of night vision difficulty was three years or less.

RETINAL PIGMENT EPITHELIAL DETACHMENTS DEVOID OF RETINAL PIGMENT EPITHELIUM
RETINAL Cases & Brief ReportsPurpose: To describe two patients with chronic central serous chorioretinopathy showing what appeared to be retinal pigment epithelium detachments lacking imaging findings consistent with retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) over the elevation.

Retinal pigment epithelial tears
Journal Français d'Ophtalmologie, 2019A retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) tear is a well-known complication of retinal pigment epithelial detachments (PED) and may cause a significant visual impairment. The most common cause is a vascularized PED in patients with exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
