Histological manifestations of vitamin A toxicity in the liver

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Analysing clinicopathological data from 1960 to 2025, this study characterizes the spectrum of liver injury associated with chronic vitamin A toxicity. Hepatic stellate cell hypertrophy/hyperplasia and sinusoidal fibrosis emerge as the predominant features, providing a morphological basis for diagnosing vitamin A hepatotoxicity.

The retinol-binding cavity in RBP and CRBP.

open access: yes, 2012
Ligand binding sites show as cartoon and transparent surface respectively. The binding site surface is illustrated by meshed colors according to the electrostatic potential. We show the binding cavity in different directions to facilitate the observation

Characteristics of retinol accumulation from serum retinol-binding protein by cultured Sertoli cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The uptake of retinol was examined in cultured Sertoli cells when retinol was provided as a complex with the transport protein retinol-binding protein (RBP). Sertoli cells accumulated [3H]retinol in a time- and temperature-dependent manner. At 32 °C, the

Bakuchiol: From structural mimicry to systems‐level skin biology

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Convergent outcomes, divergent mechanisms: bakuchiol vs. retinol. Bakuchiol exhibits functional convergence with retinol in improving extracellular matrix integrity, epidermal differentiation and barrier function, while operating through distinct mechanisms.

The Beneficial Role of Retinoids in Glomerular Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2015
The primary etiology of CKD is a direct consequence of initial dysfunction and injury of the glomerulus, the main filtration system. Podocytes are terminally differentiated epithelial cells in the glomerulus, whose major function is the maintenance of ...

Systemic, Lifestyle and Environmental Modifying Factors in the Pathogenesis of Periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
A variety of impacting factors in the pathogenesis of periodontitis exist, including systemic, lifestyle, and environmental factors. This review highlights the manifold mechanistic aspects of the link between the pathogenesis of periodontitis, addressing these numerous factors to supplement the long‐standing knowledge of the progression of the disease.

ABO blood group-dependent association of serum retinol-binding protein 4 with eosinophilic inflammation and spirometric parameters in adults with asthma

open access: yesMonaldi Archives for Chest Disease
Growing evidence links retinol binding protein-4 (RBP4) to inflammation; however, its association with inflammatory cell indices and spirometric parameters in asthma remains unclear, and the potential modifying role of ABO blood group has yet to be ...

Retinoid binding proteins and human skin.

open access: yes, 1989
New techniques for the analysis of proteins with specific binding for natural retinoids in human plasma and skin extracts have been developed. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), followed by protein blotting with an antiserum specific to retinol ...

Stem Cells From Dental Pulp, Periodontal Tissues, and Other Oral Sources: Biological Concepts and Regenerative Potential

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
A graphical abstract recapping the different sources of dental, periodontal, and other oral‐derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and their regenerative mechanisms and potentials. The review's article findings bridge fundamental biological science with translational advances, highlighting the significance of MSCs in craniofacial regenerative ...

The Primary Structure of Piscine (Oncorhynchus mykiss) Retinol-Binding Protein and a Comparison with the Three-dimensional Structure of Mammalian Retinol-Binding Protein

open access: yes, 1992
1. The primary structures of two variants of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) plasma retinol-binding protein (RBP) were determined and found to be approximately 60% identical with those of both human and Xenopus laevis RBPs.
