Perinatal Rat Lung Retinol (Vitamin A) and Retinyl Palmitate [PDF]
The potential role for retinol (vitamin A alcohol) in the differentiation of the developing lung prompted this study in the perinatal rat. High performance liquid chromatography was used to separate, detect, and quantitate retinol and retinyl palmitate in lipid extracts of tissue and serum.

Analysis of Vitamin A in Multivitamin Products
Vitamin A is present in multivitamin products mainly in the form of retinol esters: retinyl acetate, retinyl palmitate, and beta carotene—retinol precursor (dimer) found in plants, which is capable of converting into retinol in liver cells.

Hydrolysis of Retinol Palmitate by Rat Liver
Abstract Retinol acetate hydrolase is localized in rat liver microsomes whereas the retinol palmitate-hydrolyzing activity was found in the nuclear and in the mitochondrial lysosome-rich fractions. Acetone-dried powder from whole rat liver retained all of its retinol palmitate-hydrolyzing activity.
