DNA‐PKcs‐Driven YAP1 Phosphorylation and Nuclear Translocation: a Key Regulator of Ferroptosis in Hyperglycemia‐Induced Cardiac Dysfunction in Type 1 Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 28, July 24, 2025.
In the context of chronic hyperglycemia, a DDR is initiated, leading to the pathological activation of DNA‐PKcs in the diabetic heart. This activated DNA‐PKcs directly interacts with and phosphorylates YAP1 at Thr226, thereby increasing the nuclear expression of YAP1.

Retinopathy of prematurity in Kenya: prevalence and risk factors in a hospital with advanced neonatal care

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2018
INTRODUCTION: increased survival of preterm babies in sub-saharan Africa has held to an increasing prevalence of Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). This study was done to determine the ROP prevalence in a hospital with advanced neonatal care in urban ...

Retinopathy of Prematurity [PDF]

open access: yesNorth Carolina Medical Journal, 2017
Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a vasoproliferative retinal disorder unique to premature infants. As premature births increase in many areas of the world, ROP has become a leading cause of childhood blindness. A better understanding of the pathogenesis of ROP, adherence to strict screening guidelines, and evolution of treatment options have reduced

Multimodal Investigation of Angiogenesis and Its Prevention by Small Compounds in a Zebrafish Cancer Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A combined optical coherence tomography angiography and fluorescence imaging approach assesses tumor angiogenesis and drug effects in a novel zebrafish cancer model. By analyzing 3D vasculature data, the two imaging methods complement each other to quantify blood flow, vessel structure, and drug efficacy.

Relationship of mean platelet volume in predicting severity in hypertensive retinopathy – A cross sectional study

open access: yesJournal of Medical and Scientific Research, 2022
Background: Hypertension is a major health issue in India and it has led to increasing incidences of target organ damage including hypertensive retinopathy (HR). Many factors like platelet activation show influence in levels of HR. Mean platelet volume (

Post‐Translational Modifications in Cilia and Ciliopathies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review synthesizes current understanding of post‐translational modifications (PTMs) in ciliary proteins and emphasizes their roles in ciliary formation, homeostasis, and signaling. This review also discusses the implication of PTM dysregulation in ciliopathies and explores therapeutic strategies targeting PTM‐modifying enzymes.

Metabolic Stress‐Induced Choline Kinase α (CHKA) Activation in Endothelial Subpopulation Contributes to Diabetes‐Associated Microvascular Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers CHKA as a pivotal driver of vascular dysfunction in diabetic retinopathy and highlights its role in endothelial dysfunction through NAD⁺‐SIRT1‐Notch signaling. Single‐cell and functional analyses, combined with clinical and genetic validation, suggest CHKA as a promising therapeutic target for the prevention and treatment of ...
