Tail asymptotics for the queue length in an M/G/1 retrial queue

open access: yesQueueing Systems, 2006
In this paper, we study the tail behavior of the stationary queue length of an M/G/1 retrial queue. We show that the subexponential tail of the stationary queue length of an M/G/1 retrial queue is determined by that of the corresponding M/G/1 queue, and ...

An M/M/1 retrial queue with unreliable server [PDF]

open access: yesOperations Research Letters, 2006
We analyze an unreliable M/M/1 retrial queue with infinite-capacity orbit and normal queue. Retrial customers do not rejoin the normal queue but repeatedly attempt to access the server at i.i.d. intervals until it is found functioning and idle.

A Model of Rational Retrials in Queues

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2014
Customers often wait in queues before being served. Because waiting is undesirable, customers may come back later (i.e., retry) when the queue is too long. However, retrial attempts can be costly as a result of transportation fees and service delays. This paper introduces a framework for rational retrial decisions in stationary queues.

On the Conditional Probability of a Successful Retrial in Retrial Queues

INFOR: Information Systems and Operational Research, 2011
Abstract Customer retrials are very common phenomena in industrial engineering and business management. The number of retrials required before receiving a success is an important measure for evaluating system performance. Focusing on the M/M/1 and M/M/2 retrial queues, we study the conditional probability of a successful retrial given that all previous
