Retrodirective arrays for wireless power transfer applications

open access: yes, 2018
This dissertation presents a novel one-dimensional, dual frequency, active retrodirective array for wireless power transfer applications. A retrodirective array automatically scans its transmitting antenna beam in the direction of a transmitter ...

Rotman Lens-Based Retrodirective Array

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2012
A new type of broadband retrodirective array, which has been constructed using a microstrip Rotman lens, is presented. Automatic tracking of targets is obtained by exploiting the conjugate phase response of the beamforming network which is exhibited when the input ports are terminated with either open or short circuits. In addition, the true time-delay

Spherical retrodirective array

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1964
This paper derives the characteristics of a spherically-shaped retrodirective space array. The array can receive an incoming signal over 4\pi steradians, amplify, frequency translate, and modulate this signal, and then return it in the direction of the incident wave.

Design of a Dual-Frequency Retrodirective Array

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2010
A dual-frequency retrodirective array is proposed. By using two separated antenna arrays and double balanced passive mixers, the proposed system can achieve dual-frequency retrodirectivity in a bidirectional way. The low-frequency interrogating signal can be retransmitted at the high frequency, and it can also work in a reverse order.

Retrodirective array using the heterodyne technique

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1964
A retrodirective array using a single microwave mixer to accomplish conjugate phase shift in each element is described. Reradiated patterns were measured for a four-element array to substantiate the predicted performance. This array has an advantage over the Van Atta array in that the elements are not restricted to being located on a plane surface.
