Analysis of outboard cross‐eye jamming using an unmanned platform

open access: yesIET Signal Processing, Volume 17, Issue 2, February 2023., 2023
This study establishes the theoretical mathematical framework to illustrate the positive effects of outboard configuration on the jamming effect and proves the feasibility of using an unmanned platform to implement outboard cross‐eye jamming. Abstract To address the problem and reduce the risk wherein a ship‐based cross‐eye jammer could set a protected

Synthesis‐free backscatter directional modulation communication using Van‐Atta arrays

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 16, Issue 10, Page 654-659, August 2022., 2022
Abstract Backscatter communication, an emerging ultra‐low‐power wireless communication paradigm, has been studied as a promising solution for wireless communications in some Internet‐of‐Things (IoT) applications. The required ubiquitous data transmission in the IoT world is demanding information security.

A model for non‐ideal retrodirective channels in non‐line‐of‐sight geometry

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 58, Issue 10, Page 382-384, May 2022., 2022
Abstract Backscatter radio communication typically has less reliability than conventional radio links, hindering adaptation. Retrodirective arrays have been shown to enhance the link with gain and a recently‐observed resistance to small‐scale fading. However, the statistical advantages of retrodirective backscatter channels have only been theoretically

Directional modulation‐enhanced retrodirective array [PDF]

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2015
Unlike the mathematical techniques adopted in classical cryptographic technology at higher protocol layers, it is shown that characteristics intrinsic to the physical layer can be exploited to secure useful information. It is shown that a retrodirective array can be made to operate more securely by incorporating directional modulation (DM) concepts ...

A short‐time range‐angle‐decoupled beam pattern synthesis for frequency diverse arrays

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 15, Issue 8, Page 855-870, 1 July 2021., 2021
Abstract Frequency diverse array (FDA), by virtue of its range‐angle‐dependent beam pattern, has drawn a substantial attention in recent years. However, as far as the time‐variant range‐angle‐coupled beam pattern is concerned, such inherent flaw has become a bottleneck of its further development.

A Compact, Bistatic Antenna System with Very High Interport Isolation for 2.4 GHz In‐Band Full Duplex Applications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
This paper presents a compact, dual polarized bistatic (two closely spaced transmit and receive radiators) patch antenna with excellent interport isolation performance. The presented antenna system employs differential receive mode operation for the cancellation of self‐interference (SI) to achieve very high interport isolation for 2.4 GHz in‐band full

Analysis of the retrodirective mechanism of a flattened dihedral [PDF]

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation, 2018
An explicit analysis of the retrodirective mechanism of a flattened dihedral using periodic arrays is proposed. Once flattened, a corner dihedral requires a phasing mechanism to restore its retrodirective behaviour. This can be achieved by equipping each of the panels with passive phase‐shifting cells that obey a global retrodirective phase law.

Retrodirective-Assisted Secure Wireless Key Establishment [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Communications, 2017
In this paper, a new type of architecture for secure wireless key establishment is proposed. A retrodirective array (RDA) that is configured to receive and re-transmit at different frequencies is utilized as a relay node. The RDA is able to respond in “real time,” reducing the required number of time slots to two. More importantly, in this architecture,

Retrodirective Array Immune to Incident Waves with Arbitrary Polarizations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A retrodirective array (RDA) capable of retransmitting predictable polarization with respect to any received polarization state is presented. RDAs have the unique ability to scatter the received signal back to the interrogator without prior knowledge of ...

Retrodirective rectenna arrays for passive SHF-RFID transponders

open access: yes, 2023
165168In this work we combine the retrodirectivity of Van Atta arrays with the direction-independent power reception capability of rectenna arrays to compensate for the high free-space path loss in the super high frequency (SHF) band. Currently the range
