Brain Drain and Brain Return: Theory and Application to Eastern-Western Europe [PDF]

open access: yes
Recent empirical evidence seems to show that temporary migration is a widespread phenomenon, especially among highly skilled workers who return to their countries of origin when these begin to grow.

Charge‐Induced Morphing Gels for Bioinspired Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel electroactive actuation mechanism that enables the gel material to generate substantial and reversible shape‐changing while preserving topological and isochoric (volumetric) equivalence. The resultant morphing behaviors can mimic the movements of muscle‐driven organelles in nature, including cilia‐like beating and ...

How Does Rural Resilience Affect Return Migration: Evidence from Frontier Regions in China

open access: yesSystems
An important way to realize urban–rural integration and regional coordinated development is to attract labor forces back to rural areas. Most of the existing studies consider the impact of individual factors on population migration, they lack a ...

Return Migration and Occupational Choice [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2009
This paper explores the impact of return migration on the Albanian economy by analysing the occupational choice of return migrants while explicitly differentiating between self-employment as either own account work or entrepreneurship. After taking into account the possible sample selection into return migration, we find that the own account workers ...

Return migration: theory and empirical evidence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper we discuss forms of migration that are non-permanent. We focus on temporary migrations where the decision to return is taken by the immigrant. These migrations are likely to be frequent, and we provide some evidence for the UK.

Multi‐Ion Doping Controlled CEI Formation in Structurally‐Stable High‐Energy Monoclinic‐Phase NASICON Cathodes for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract illustrates the synthesis pathway, morphological feature, and thermodynamic feasibility of entropy‐engineered NASICON cathodes for sodium‐ion batteries. Abstract Overcoming the energy density limitations of sodium‐ion batteries (NIBs) requires innovative strategies to optimize cathode materials.

Dual‐Functional Additive Regulating Zn2+ Solvation Structure and (002) Plane‐Oriented Deposition for Dendrite‐Free Zn Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfosalicylic acid (SSA) is introduced as a bifunctional additive for Aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. SSA reconstructs the solvation structure of Zn2+ through the synergistic effects of its multiple functional groups, suppressing side reactions while selectively promoting Zn (002) deposition to prevent dendrite formation.
