Effect of surface electrical tracking of ethylene propylene rubber on return voltage
2016 International Conference on Condition Monitoring and Diagnosis (CMD), 2016Electrical tracking is one of the main reasons for the deterioration of insulation surface. According to the problem of the surface electrical tracking erosion of insulation used in the high-voltage mining cables, the Ethylene Propylene Rubber samples with different electrical tracking development stage were selected in the paper.

The influence of climatic conditions on the diagnostic results of return voltage measurements
Conference Record of the the 2002 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation (Cat. No.02CH37316), 2003The return voltage method is easy to use and widely accepted method to monitor the condition of paper-oil insulated cables or transformers. The data acquisition is not very sensitive to external disturbances, but the results of the measurements may be influenced by the climatic conditions.

Return Voltage Measurements - a good tool for the diagnosis of paper-oil insulations
2005 IEEE Russia Power Tech, 2005The condition of service aged paper-oil insulations can be assessed by measuring the dielectric response of the insulation. The paper deals with the interpretation of experimental results of return voltage measurements and discusses the relevance of different measurement conditions and the meaningfulness of the different diagnostic parameters chosen ...

Condition Monitoring of Power Transformer Insulation by Return Voltage Measurement
2021 IEEE 5th International Conference on Condition Assessment Techniques in Electrical Systems (CATCON), 2021Due to ageing, insulation of the power transformers degrade. Ageing occurs mainly due to moisture content and oxygen in the oil-paper insulation of the power transformer. The ageing process causes an increase in the dissipation factor.

Research on return voltage method to diagnose insulation moisture in transformer
2010 International Conference on Mechanic Automation and Control Engineering, 2010Moisture in power transformer strongly influences the dielectric properties of oil-paper insulation system. The insulation paper gradually degrades over time, therefore, it is imperative to assess integral condition of oil-paper insulation for assuring a normal operation of power transformers.

Improvement of the return voltage method for water tree detection in XLPE cables
Conference Record of the 2000 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation (Cat. No.00CH37075), 2002The return voltage method is a well established diagnostic technique to determine the condition of insulation systems e.g. transformers, mass impregnated cables or XLPE cables. Commonly used parameters to assess the insulation condition from a return voltage measurement are the maximum value, the initial slope and the time of the return voltage peak ...

Relation between return voltage and other methods for measurements of dielectric response
Proceedings of 1994 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation, 2002Computer simulations, based upon a phenomenological description of the fundamental dielectric processes of conduction and polarisation, have been performed in order to explain the relations between the different methods and to facilitate a better interpretation of experimental results.

Return Voltage Measurements (RVM) are widely used for the diagnosis of paper-oil insulated hv-cables. The diagnostic parameter is the p-factor. It will be shown, that applying a different evaluation method, the identical measurement procedure can be used
