Association of Pregabalin vs. Duloxetine with Cardiovascular Events: A Retrospective Cohort Study Among US Veterans With Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Pregabalin and duloxetine are widely prescribed non‐opioid medications for chronic musculoskeletal pain. Pregabalin may increase the risk of heart failure, and duloxetine increases heart rate and blood pressure; however, little is known about their comparative cardiovascular safety.

Clinical Study to Evaluate Drug Interactions of Cannabidiol with Citalopram and Morphine in Healthy Adults

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant bioactive cannabinoids. Research has demonstrated CBD’s ability to inhibit metabolic enzymes like cytochrome P450 (CYP) and UDP‐glucuronosyltransferase (UGT), potentially leading to drug interactions. However, clinical knowledge gaps remain, particularly with regard to drugs that are more commonly taken by ...

Smoking-induced long-lasting modifications of human platelet serotonin catabolism through a MAO epigenetic regulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Postulating that serotonin, secreted from smoking-activated platelets, could be involved in smoking-induced vascular modifications, we studied 115 men distributed in smokers (S), former smokers (FS) and never smokers (NS).

The β integrin modulates serotonin sensitivity via NPxY motifs to regulate egg laying and mechanosensation behaviors in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Integrin is an αβ heterodimeric receptor to the extracellular matrix; its binding to the matrix recruits focal adhesions to two NPxY motifs, the tyrosine phosphorylation sites in the cytoplasmic domain. Studies found that replacing tyrosines (Y) with phenylalanines (F) in the motif of β1 integrin displayed little developmental or ...
