Homothetic Preferences Revealed [PDF]
We introduce a method to recover homothetic preferences from choice data with minor optimization or measurement errors. Our method allows for a more detailed graphical analysis to reveal subjects’ preferences and to choose appropriate functional forms for parametric analysis.

Revealing the Preferences of the FARC [PDF]
Currently the FARC and the Colombian Government are negotiating a peace agreement in the city of Havana in Cuba. Although the results of these talks are uncertain and the final goal of the rebels is not observable, it is possible to analyze their strategy under different scenarios and associate the actions undertaken by the insurgents with their real ...

An algebraic approach to revealed preference [PDF]
AbstractWe propose and develop an algebraic approach to revealed preference. Our approach dispenses with non-algebraic structure, such as topological assumptions. We provide algebraic axioms of revealed preference that subsume previous classical revealed preference axioms and show that a data set is rationalizable if and only if it is consistent with ...

Revealed strength of preference: Inference from response times [PDF]
Revealed preference is the dominant approach for inferring preferences, but it is limited in that it relies solely on discrete choice data. When a person chooses one alternative over another, we cannot infer the strength of their preference or predict ...

Revealed Preference and Aggregation [PDF]
This paper studies conditions under which aggregate demand behavior will satisfy the usual revealed preference axioms. Assuming a fixed distribution of income and the hypothesis that individual demand is homogeneous in income, it is shown that the weak axiom of revealed preference or the congruence axiom will hold in the aggregate if each individual ...

How Revealing is Revealed Preference? [PDF]
This lecture address the following two key criticisms of the empirical application of revealed preference theory: When the RP conditions do not reject, they do not provide precise predictions; and when they do reject, they do not help characterize the nature of irrationality or the degree/direction of changing tastes.
