Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Turning the Ratchet: Dynamic Screening with Multiple Agents [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We study a dynamic contracting problem with multiple agents and limited commitment. A principal seeks to screen efficient agents using one-period contracts, but is tempted to revise contract terms upon knowing an agent's type. Alterations of contracts are observable and, hence, whenever past promises are broken future information revelation stops.

A note on revelation principle from an energy perspective [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
The revelation principle has been known in the economics society for decades. In this paper, I will investigate it from an energy perspective, i.e., considering the energy consumed by agents and the designer in participating a mechanism. The main result is that when the strategies of agents are actions rather than messages, an additional energy ...

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Getting the Agent to Wait [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We examine the strategic interaction between an expert (principal) maximizing engagement and an agent seeking swift information. Our analysis reveals: When priors align, relative patience determines optimal disclosure -- impatient agents induce gradual revelation, while impatient principals cause delayed, abrupt revelation.

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

V3rified: Revelation vs Non-Revelation Mechanisms for Decentralized Verifiable Computation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In the era of Web3, decentralized technologies have emerged as the cornerstone of a new digital paradigm. Backed by a decentralized blockchain architecture, the Web3 space aims to democratize all aspects of the web. From data-sharing to learning models, outsourcing computation is an established, prevalent practice.
