Reverberance of an existing hall in relation to subsequent reverberation time and SPL
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1998Psychological tests in relation to reverberance of sound fields were conducted in an existing hall which is a medium-sized multipurpose hall with 400 seats. Music and speech as sound sources were radiated from an omnidirectional dodecahedron loudspeaker on the stage.

Reverberation time measurement issues
INTER-NOISE and NOISE-CON Congress and Conference Proceedings, 2023The current ISO attempt to revise ISO 354 has ended in failure because the experts on the working group could not reach agreement in the required time frame. However, several important issues were identified. Some of these issues are discussed in this paper.

Optimum Reverberation Time for Auditoriums
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1930Up to the present, the acoustics of auditoriums has rested on a purely empirical basis. A more satisfactory situation would be reached if we knew a physical quantity which had some definite value for all rooms, regardless of size, which are considered acoustically good.

Reverberation time measuring methods
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008In this paper different well-established methods of reverberation time measurement are compared. Furthermore, the results obtained using these methods are compared to the results provided by some additional methods which could serve as an in situ tool if, for any reason, the reverberation time measurements cannot be carried out using the standardized ...

Measurement of Reverberation Time
American Journal of Physics, 1965A simple experiment to measure the reverberation time of a room is described. The relevant theory is outlined, and typical results are given. The experiment is designed for inclusion in a course of practical work for first-year university students in physics.

Measurement of reverberation time in the National Bureau of Standards reverberation room
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1976The spatial variation of the reverberation time in the 1/3-octave bands from 80 to 10 000 Hz was studied as a function of: (1) the surface area of the absorbing material ranging from 0 to 13.4 m2; (2) the orientation and rotational speed (0–10 rpm) of the vanes; (3) loudspeaker placement and type; (4) discrete microphone versus high-speed multiplexed ...

Reverberation Time Measurements in Reverberant Spaces
2008The goal of this paper is to examine the reverberation time measurements made in small and large reverberant spaces using different measurement methods, namely, the integrated impulse response measured with pink noise, exponential sweep and MLS and the method of recording the response of the room to an impulsive source, e.g.

The necessity of determining the optimum reverberation time in relation to the purpose of the room appears as a problem during the design and modeling of room acoustics. The paper discusses different recommendations for determining the optimum reverberation time, which are analyzed graphically and numerically.

Reverberation versus time or reverberation versus range? A definitive relationship.
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009Strictly reverberation consists of all the back-scattered contributions from many locations that arrive at one absolute time regardless of their respective travel times. However, for calculation purposes, particularly at long range, it is often more convenient to assume the scatterers to be close together at a single location with corresponding ...

Reverberation time series generation
2009 International Symposium on Ocean Electronics (SYMPOL 2009), 2009This paper deals with the generation of non-stationary reverberation time series using a reverberation spectrum model. The expected spectra are predicted using a numerical implementation (referred to as the reverberation spectrum model), of a general formulation of Faure, Ol'shevskii, and Middleton as a function of relevant sonar system parameters and ...
