Reverberation time measurement issues
INTER-NOISE and NOISE-CON Congress and Conference Proceedings, 2023The current ISO attempt to revise ISO 354 has ended in failure because the experts on the working group could not reach agreement in the required time frame. However, several important issues were identified. Some of these issues are discussed in this paper.

The Reverberation Time Bridge—An Instrumental Method for Measuring Reverberation Time
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1930The analogy between the decay of the electrical energy in a capacitor shunted by a resistor and the decay of sound energy in a room with sound absorbing walls is the basis of this bridge. The sound pressure is converted into a corresponding electrical voltage by a microphone and amplifier.

Reverberation time series generation
2009 International Symposium on Ocean Electronics (SYMPOL 2009), 2009This paper deals with the generation of non-stationary reverberation time series using a reverberation spectrum model. The expected spectra are predicted using a numerical implementation (referred to as the reverberation spectrum model), of a general formulation of Faure, Ol'shevskii, and Middleton as a function of relevant sonar system parameters and ...

Time-reversed reverberation focusing in a waveguide
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2001Time reversal mirrors have been demonstrated to focus acoustic energy in the ocean at ranges of tens of kilometers from a probe source [W. A. Kuperman et al., J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 103, 25–40 (1998)]. Time reversal has also been exploited to focus acoustic energy at discrete scatters of unknown location using the eigenvectors of the time reversal ...

Optimum Reverberation Time for Auditoriums
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1930Up to the present, the acoustics of auditoriums has rested on a purely empirical basis. A more satisfactory situation would be reached if we knew a physical quantity which had some definite value for all rooms, regardless of size, which are considered acoustically good.

Reverberation Time Characteristics of Severence Hall
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1959Following the changes in the acoustical conditions made in Severance Hall during the summer of 1958 [see R. S. Shankland and E. A. Flynn, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 31, 866 (1959)] a series of reverberation time measurements were made during the 1958–1959 concert season of the Cleveland Orchestra.

2018
The necessity of determining the optimum reverberation time in relation to the purpose of the room appears as a problem during the design and modeling of room acoustics. The paper discusses different recommendations for determining the optimum reverberation time, which are analyzed graphically and numerically.

Reverberation time prediction software
Applied Acoustics, 1988Abstract Reverberation time prediction in room acoustics is a subject suitable for the development of a microcomputer software application. Based on two data-bases—one for the actual predictions and one for the building and acoustical materials needed to control the acoustical conditions of a room—such an application, using a conversational ...

A method for extending reverberation time of Dattorro's reverberator
2015 12th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD), 2015Based on the introduction of the digital reverberation algorithm, we use the integrated impulse response method, and the method of compressing and extending the reverberation model impulse response to solve two existing problems of the Dattorro's plate reverberator in the practical application.
