Loss of physical reversibility in reversible systems [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 2020
A dynamical system is said to be reversible if, given an output, the input can always be recovered in a well-posed manner. Nevertheless, we argue that reversible systems that have a time-reversal symmetry, such as the Nonlinear Schr{ö}dinger equation and the $ϕ^4$ equation can become "physically irreversible".

A Method for Translating Automotive Body-Related CAN Messages Based on Labeled Bits

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Traditional mechanical parts have been increasingly replaced by in-vehicle electronic control units (ECUs) that communicate via control area networks (CAN). For security reasons, the Database CAN (DBC) file, which defines the contents of CAN messages, is

Reverse engineering is reverse forward engineering

open access: yesScience of Computer Programming, 2000
Reverse engineering is focused on the challenging task of understanding legacy program code without having suitable documentation. Using a transformational forward engineering perspective, we gain the insight that much of this difficulty is caused by design decisions made during system development.

Reverse-engineering Reverse Mathematics

open access: yesAnnals of Pure and Applied Logic, 2013
Abstract An important open problem in Reverse Mathematics (Montalban, 2011 [16] ; Simpson, 2009 [25] ) is the reduction of the first-order strength of the base theory from I Σ 1 to I Δ 0 + exp . The system ERNA, a version of Nonstandard Analysis based on the system I Δ 0 + exp , provides a partial ...
