Fluorescence spectroscopy applied to the optimisation of a desalting step by electrodialysis for the characterisation of marine organic matter [PDF]
The isolation and characterisation of marine dissolved organic matter (DOM) are still not readily achieved today. The study of this chemically complex material is particularly difficult, especially as it is hindered by the high salinity of seawater.

Design and application of dual membrane process for reclaimed water project in industrial parks
The designed water production of a reclaimed water reuse project in Tianjin was 50 000 m3/d, using immersed ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis dual membrane technology as the core treatment process.

Operational Optimization of Reverse Osmosis Plant Using MPC
This article is devoted to the study of optimal control strategies for reverse osmosis membrane modules with recirculation. To develop a control system, a reverse osmosis membrane model, previously developed, is used.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

The Effects of Fluctuating Operation on Reverse Osmosis Membranes
Directly coupling renewable energy to reverse osmosis may be the most cost effective solution to supply potable water to remote and isolated areas that lack infrastructure and safe drinking water.

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Renewable energy sources increase their share in the energy mix and, therefore it is important to accommodate variability in energy production. In this study, a hybrid approach is evaluated where a combination of batteries and compressed air are used ...
