Optical limiting via spontaneously generated coherence

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
We investigate the reverse saturable absorption (RSA) and optical limiting (OL) in a three-level V-type quantum system considering the effect of the spontaneously generated coherence (SGC). It is shown that in the absence of the SGC effect, the saturable

Nonlinear Optical Characterization of InP@ZnS Core-Shell Colloidal Quantum Dots Using 532 nm, 10 ns Pulses

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
InP@ZnS core-shell colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) were synthesized and characterized using the z-scan technique. The nonlinear refraction and nonlinear absorption coefficients (γ = −2 × 10−12 cm2 W−1, β = 4 × 10−8 cm W−1) of these CQDs were determined ...

Donor-Acceptor Type Reduced Graphene-Oxide and a Tin-Selenide Nanohybrid With Broad and Ultrafast Optical Limiting Properties

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2020
The non-linear absorption properties of reduced graphene-oxide (RGO) have been studied extensively but the optical limiting (OL) performance of RGO was always confined to visible light. In this study, by anchoring SnSe nanosheets onto the surface of RGO,

Nonlinear optical trapping effect with reverse saturable absorption

open access: yes, 2023
Nonlinear responses of nanoparticles induce enlightening phenomena in optical tweezers. With the gradual increase in optical intensity, effects from saturable absorption (SA) and reverse SA (RSA) arise in sequence and thereby modulate the nonlinear ...

SIZE DEPENDENT SWITCHING FROM REVERSE SATURABLE TO SATURABLE ABSORPTION IN CARBOXYLATE-MODIFIED MICROSPHERES

open access: yes, 2011
The third order nonlinear optical properties of two different sized carboxylate-modified microspheres are investigated at different pump powers. The nonlinear absorption (NLA) is measured at 532 nm using 10 Hz, 7 ns pulses from the second harmonic ...

Transition from saturable absorption to reverse saturable absorption of carmoisine dye under low-powered continuous wave laser excitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Unique nonlinear optics (NLO) properties i.e. intensity-dependent nonlinear absorption and refraction of carmoisine (food dye) is studied using a single beam z-scan technique.

The nonlinear optical absorption and optical limiting properties of noble metal-doped ZnO films

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Herein, pure ZnO, Ag-doped ZnO, and Cu-doped ZnO films with excellent ultrafast (femtosecond) nonlinear absorption/limiting behavior were deposited on quartz substrates by magnetron sputtering.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
