The genome of Megachile rotundata, an extensively managed solitary pollination bee species, has been sequenced, covering 280.68 Mb and predicting 10 701 genes. The study reveals significant expansions of the Toll gene family and their abundant expression in diapause prepupae, highlighting enhanced immune responses during diapause. This genome serves as

HIV-1 reverse transcriptase mutations that confer decreased in vitro susceptibility to anti-RT DNA aptamer RT1t49 confer cross resistance to other anti-RT aptamers but not to standard RT inhibitors [PDF]
RNA and DNA aptamers specific for HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) can inhibit reverse transcription in vitro. RNA aptamers have been shown to potently block HIV-1 replication in culture.

A new amphipathic molecule, S416 is discovered, that locks the SARS‐CoV‐2 spike protein in its closed state, blocking viral entry. S416 acts as a molecular bolt, binding six sites: three between adjacent RBDs and three connecting NTDs to RBDs. This dual‐locking mechanism stiffens the spike structure and reduces its flexibility.

Automated triage of COVID-19 from various lung abnormalities using chest CT features [PDF]
The outbreak of COVID-19 has lead to a global effort to decelerate the pandemic spread. For this purpose chest computed-tomography (CT) based screening and diagnosis of COVID-19 suspected patients is utilized, either as a support or replacement to reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test. In this paper, we propose a fully automated

Robust design optimisation of continuous flow polymerase chain reaction thermal flow systems [PDF]
This paper presents an efficient methodology for the robust optimisation of Continuous Flow Polymerase Chain Reaction (CFPCR) devices. It enables the effects of uncertainties in device geometry, due to manufacturing tolerances, on the competing objectives of minimising the temperature deviations within the CFPCR thermal zones, together with minimising ...

Characterization of human metapneumoviruses isolated from patients in North America. [PDF]
Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) was recently identified in The Netherlands and was linked to acute respiratory tract illness. In this study, 11 isolates from 10 patients with respiratory disease from Quebec, Canada, were tested by a reverse-transcriptase ...

This study elucidates a novel role of FGF13 in manipulating neuronal fate via mitochondrial transfer. FGF13 is identified as a mitochondria‐stabilizing protein by interacting with mitochondrial proteins. Under stress, the decrease of neuronal FGF13 fails to retain mitochondria within the cytoplasm, leading to the release of damaged mitochondria to ...

Case Report: Hypomyelinating Leukodystrophy Type 20 (HLD20) With Novel CNP Gene Variant
ABSTRACT This case report describes a child with hypomyelinating leukodystrophy type 20 (HLD20), a rare neurodegenerative disorder characterized by impaired myelin formation. The patient presented with multiple neurodevelopmental abnormalities, including delayed motor milestones, seizures, and abnormal facial features.

Objectives Rapid advances in transcriptomics have driven efforts to identify deregulated pathways in multiple sclerosis (MS) tissues, though many detected differentially expressed genes are likely false positives, with only a small fraction reflecting actual pathological events. Robust, integrative methods are essential for accurately understanding the
