Bone Metabolism after Total Hip Revision Surgery with Impacted Grafting: Evaluation using H215O and [18F]fluoride PET; A Pilot Study [PDF]
Purpose: To evaluate bone blood flow and bone formation in patients after total hip revision surgery with impacted bone grafting using H2 15O and [18F]fluoride positron emission tomography (PET).

Abstract Purpose Personalized alignment in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is gaining traction as a surgical philosophy. True personalization, however, must encompass not only the coronal plane but also the sagittal and axial planes. This study evaluates influence of the Tibial Slope (PTS) and combined flexion (CF) on outcomes in TKA performed using ...

ABSTRACT Purpose Several alignment strategies have been proposed in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), with the two extremes being mechanical alignment (MA) and unrestricted kinematic alignment (KA). While MA standardises coronal knee parameters to achieve a neutral alignment, KA reproduces each patient's native joint lines.

Scintigraphic assessment of bone status at one year following hip resurfacing : comparison of two surgical approaches using SPECT-CT scan [PDF]
Objectives: To study the vascularity and bone metabolism of the femoral head/neck following hip resurfacing arthroplasty, and to use these results to compare the posterior and the trochanteric-flip approaches.

Abstract Purpose A single hip–knee–ankle angle (HKA) angle does not reflect the biomechanics of native, arthritic or prosthetic knees. Since HKA varies throughout flexion, dynamic coronal alignment is best represented by a kinematic curve plotting HKA against the range of motion.

Fracture of the neck of an uncemented femoral component unrelated to trunnion corrosion
This is the first report, to our knowledge, of a fracture, unrelated to trunnion corrosion, through the midneck of a well-fixed uncemented cobalt-chromium alloy femoral component that had been implanted via a total hip revision arthroplasty 25 years ago.

Abstract Purpose Previous knee surgery is discussed as a risk factor for total knee arthroplasty (TKA), yet most reports do not distinguish between osteotomy and osteosynthesis. The German Operationen‐ und Prozedurenschlüssel (OPS)‐based classification was used to compare the impact of these procedures on implant survival, mortality and complications ...

Five Year Follow-up of One Stage Bilateral Total Hip Arthroplasty [PDF]
We report on the medium term outcome of five patients (ten hips) who underwent one stage bilateral total hip arthroplasty. Both Harris Hip Scores and Oxford Hip Scores improved postoperatively as did range of motion. There was no radiographic evidence of
