Freezing of Gait Levodopa Response Pattern in Parkinson's Disease Provides Clues to Pathophysiology

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 64, Issue 1, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Freezing of gait (FOG) is a common and enigmatic feature of Parkinson's disease (PD) because of its episodic and unpredictable nature. It is now clear that FOG is not a monolithic phenomenon but instead exhibits substantial heterogeneity across patients, suggesting the existence of subtypes.

Pharmacologically Modulating the Noradrenergic Arousal System to Reduce Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease: Study Protocol of the International AnTi‐FREEZE Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 64, Issue 2, July 2026.
The AnTi‐FREEZE study follows a three‐visit protocol consisting of a baseline visit and two randomized crossover visits with atomoxetine or placebo. Assessments in dopaminergic OFF‐ and ON‐states examine the effect of atomoxetine on freezing of gait severity and the role of noradrenaline in the pathophysiology of freezing of gait.

Neuropsychiatric Adverse Events Associated With Foslevodopa/Foscarbidopa Continuous Subcutaneous Infusion in Clinical Practice: A Multicenter Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 7, July 2026.
In 214 patients with advanced Parkinson's disease receiving foslevodopa/foscarbidopa continuous subcutaneous infusion, neuropsychiatric adverse events occurred in 19.2%. Baseline cognitive impairment and hallucinations did not increase risk, whereas preexisting impulse control disorders predicted ICD‐related adverse events.

Bayesian Spatial Framework for Quantifying Uncertainty in Labor Market Delineation

open access: yesGeographical Analysis, Volume 58, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Labor market delineation typically relies on deterministic regionalization algorithms that treat commuting flows as fixed inputs and produce a single optimal partition. These approaches obscure uncertainty in boundary placement and cannot distinguish stable labor market cores from transitional regions where affiliation is ambiguous. We develop

Neurotransmitter Systems Underlying Freezing of Gait (FOG) in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 12, June 2026.
Freezing of gait (FOG) in Parkinson's disease (PD) arises from dysfunction across multiple neurotransmitter systems within distributed locomotor networks. While dopaminergic deficits contribute to levodopa‐responsive FOG, nondopaminergic systems including cholinergic, noradrenergic, serotonergic, and glutamatergic/GABAergic pathways play key roles in ...
