Energy balance in a low pressure capacitive discharge driven by a double-saddle antenna

open access: yes, 2003
A radio frequency (rf) plasma is created at low pressure (∼1 mTorr) in the source tube of a “helicon” excited diffusion system in the absence of a dc magnetic field.

Novel 3D‐Printed Biophotonic Scaffold Displaying Luminescence under Near‐Infrared Light for Photopharmacological Activation and Biological Signaling Compound Release

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Despite significant efforts in developing novel biomaterials to regenerate tissue, only a few of them have successfully reached clinical use. It has become clear that the next generation of biomaterials must be multifunctional. Smart biomaterials can respond to environmental or external stimuli, interact in a spatial‐temporal manner, and trigger ...

Analysis and recombination of multiple-charge-state beams from an electron cyclotron resonance ion source

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2009
To meet the beam power requirements for high-intensity ion linacs being proposed for rare isotope beam production and other nuclear physics applications, we have developed an injector system to extract, accelerate, analyze, and recombine multiple charge ...

Electron beam charging and arc discharging of spacecraft insulating materials [PDF]

open access: yes
Samples of Mylar and Teflon film were exposed to combinations of monoenergetic electron and lithium ion fluxes in various ratios. The samples' discharge rates and strengths were found to diminish as the ion proportion increased.

Metronidazole‐Loaded Cyclodextrin Nanogels for Antibacterial Therapy and Microbiota Regulation in Periodontitis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A methacrylamide β‐cyclodextrin‐based nanogel (MACD nGel) is developed to load the antimicrobial drug Metronidazole (MNZ) for topical delivery for the treatment of periodontitis. It is demonstrated that cyclodextrin nanogel (nGel) loaded with metronidazole provides an efficient drug delivery route but also has potential clinical applications and offers

Assessment of plasma uniformity in the extraction region of an RF-driven negative ion source for CRAFT NNBI

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The uniformity of beam, for large RF negative ion source, is closely related to the plasma uniformity in the extraction region. The six electrostatic probes were installed above the plasma grid (PG) 5 mm to evaluate the plasma uniformity.

Commissioning of the 1.4 Mev/u High Current Heavy Ion Linac at Gsi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The disassembly of the Unilac prestripper linac of the Wideroe type took place at the beginning of 1999. An increase of more than two orders of magnitude in particle number for the most heavy elements in the SIS had to be gained.

Probing Cellular Activity Via Charge‐Sensitive Quantum Nanoprobes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A new quantum sensing modality detects shifts in zero‐field splitting caused by charge rearrangement with diamond nanocrystals in response to cellular activity. These electric‐field‐driven effects provide an alternative to temperature‐based interpretations, enabling real‐time, single‐cell readout of inflammation.
