RF Interconnection and Switching

1994
The components that connect, interface, transfer, and filter RF energy within a given system—or between systems—are critical elements in the operation of vacuum tube devices. Such hardware, usually passive, determines to a large extent the overall performance of the RF generator.

RF Characteristic and Modeling of the RF MEMS Switch Packaging

2006 7th International Conference on Electronic Packaging Technology, 2006
The RF characteristic of a RF MEMS switch with a package cap was studied in this paper based on simulation and analysis. Simulation was divided into two parts-the edge of the cap and the center of the cap, in order to observe the different effect level between the edge and the center of the cap on the switch.

A novel beam switching antenna using RF switches

2007 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2007
A novel beam switching antenna design is proposed in this work. This antenna uses a dipole as the fed and a cylindrical metal enclosure with a stack of circular slits is put around dipole. An array of RF switches made of pin diodes are placed across the slits.

RF MEMS switches and applications

2002 IEEE International Reliability Physics Symposium. Proceedings. 40th Annual (Cat. No.02CH37320), 2003
RF MEMS are small mechanical devices fabricated by photolithographic processes, which are used for elemental signal processing functions in rf and microwave frequency circuits. The most common RF MEMS control component is a microwave transmission line switch, currently under development for applications requiring low insertion loss, high linearity ...

RF MEMS Switch ASICS

2007 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference, 2007
This paper describes the combination of a novel "device on package" MEMS fabrication architecture and proven high force disk actuator technology to enable new families of MEMS Switch ASIC's (Application Specific Integrated Circuits). This includes both custom high performance MEMS switches and MEMS switches integrated with passive components.

RF/microwave switch considerations

2008 IEEE AUTOTESTCON, 2008
To optimize performance and repeatability in a test system, test-system designers must address a multitude of RF/microwave switch challenges that may seem overwhelming. For companies that want to control lead times, costs, and the physical layout of a custom switch solution, these challenges must be overcome.

An RF activated antenna switch

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Communications, 1966
The development of high power semiconductor technology has suggested that the mechanical antenna relay should be replaced by a highly reliable solid state system. Many approaches to this problem are possible using forward and reverse biasing with various types of switching diodes.
